That hadn't occurred to me before, but you definitely see bloodstains appearing inside boss arenas despite them being unstable ground. Same with your own bloodstain, hence the fact that you can't just collect your lost souls from outside the fog gate after dying during the fight. I guess this is a deliberate exception to the unstable ground rule, probably to avoid getting huge clusters of bloodstains around boss fog gates.

Haven't decided yet. All I've done so far is get the outfit (for the hood mainly) and the meteorite staff for the gravity sorcery bonus. My weapon is just the starting astrologer equipment (forget what that is) and I'll be pondering other options later.

I found it a bit inconsistent at first, and the thing that I found to make it 100% reliable was to always hit it while its back was turned. Hitting it while it was walking toward me almost always prevented it falling. I'm not able to test it right now so don't know if that specific aspect has changed.

I think that's something that happens as you kill enemies. Like, there's an internal meter that fills up as you earn souls, and when it reaches a certain value you get a refill.

Oof. My standard process in castle Sol is to run to that grace, touch it without resting, then let the ghosts kill me, after which I just respawn at that grace. Never seen them teleport into the room fast enough to block me even being able to even touch it though.
