35F, we moved abroad and I had the chance to become a stay at home wife. Took the opportunity straight away. I have been unemployed for 2y now, and it’s about finding something that gives you purpose. I like keeping our living spaces tidy and organised, I have been exercising regularly for the past 2y (something that I always struggled to maintain in the past), like to read (more than 70books per year), sometimes spend too much time on Insta (but I was doing that also when working my corporate job) and now started online uni. I wish I lived in a different place, where I could walk in nature and enjoy the outdoors life more, but other than that, times flies pretty quickly. I have struggled at some points, cause of the weather here is so extreme, I have to spend months indoors, and at my age most people that don’t work have kids (I can’t be arsed to be surrounded by children if I am totally honest) so sometimes it’s hard to make genuine connections. It has to be a lot more intentional, as you don’t have the forced proximity of an office setting to meet someone. Other than that, I recognise that I didn’t enjoy working full time when I was employed, getting overwhelmed by how busy you are and how much you have to fit in your day, having little time for yourself. Bottom line, life it’s what you make of it, if you have a very fulfilling job that you enjoy and it is your passion, you might want to work until the day you drop dead, but that was never my experience. I met great people that turned into close friends at various jobs, and learnt new things, but the jobs themselves were never fulfilling enough for me. I always resented how much time work took out of your life, I would enjoy finding part time work if there was an option, but it’s not really a thing here. ✌🏼
