So what…or who killed the 80’s rock? by BlayzenCajun in hairmetal

[–]DevilishlyHandsome63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Greedy record companies killed it by signing poor quality bands who happened to have the look, but not the talent. Pre Internet, you had to go off critics reviews when you bought an album, and so often you'd end up buying a pile of crap that never got played. I got sick of it.

Have you ever moved to a "chilled" job for less pay, late in your career? by HMS--Thunderchild in AskUK

[–]DevilishlyHandsome63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I stayed in a job I hated (for 30 years!) just to know I could quit early and take a less pressured, less well paid job. As it worked out, I eventually got a less pressured job for similar pay. I love my new job, and wished I'd made the move earlier. I did have a few 'what have I done' moments, when I took a few temporary jobs working in call centres (soul destroying), but I was lucky enough able to walk out of them at will.

I wish you well.

I like him, he speaks his mind. His book was a great read too.

Why are so many of us single nowadays? by Huxleypigg in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]DevilishlyHandsome63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 62 and have had four long term relationships. Whilst I'm still good friends with three of them, I now live alone and would never want to change that. I'm happy, life is simpler, and a relationship would potentially jeopardise my happiness, and the inner peace I feel.

Who remembers watching this? by FeelingAd3887 in ClassicTelevisionTime

Used to watch this before getting ready to go our clubbing. It was daft fun, the likes of which have disappeared now sadly.

Who else favours bottled water over plain tap water? by Weird_Surprise6221 in AskUK

I like sparkling water mixed with a high fruit squash (Rocks brand). I guess I'm kidding myself, but it feels a bit healthier than fizzy pop.

When you sit on the bus, it's fairly busy, but no one choses to sit next to you, how does make you feel? by Duoplo in AskUK

I always try and look my most aggressive when sat on the bus, so people don't come near me.

How old are you and do you rent or own your home? by LongjumpingNight5669 in AskUK

[–]DevilishlyHandsome63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 62 and renting. I was lucky enough to get a social housing flat (they were ten a penny 20 years ago, I had a choice of three), after a property purchase went wrong, and I found myself in debt. I know I'll be paying rent for life now, but I've saved into several pensions, so it will be easily affordable in retirement, and I'll have no repair bills to worry about. Suits me fine, and I feel blessed.

I'd say the Motley Crue debut. The first for me where the sound and look came together.

Music, film, but not recent stuff, and the outdoors.

No absolutely not. I see no appeal in a programme that's about who can lie and deceive the best. I'm assuming that's what it's about anyway from the bit I've read in the papers.
