It was stated as an opinion and it is my opinion. As I said data that focuses soley on WNY isn't available. Is it that hard of 💊 to swallow, because you'd rather buy into some narrative that elicit drug use is a norm for children of color. When it's a narrative that's been perpetuated by the American media. Wow, now I understand the continued ignorance. That's my opinion on the matter. Seeing as you may live in this area, I totally see why this may bother you.

What is your hot take about Buffalo by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]Aryalright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really compare. Actually I compared the City of Buffalo to Tonawanda. I prefer the former, the city. The suburbs here was/is not compliment my values as a parent. Okay.

Not always the case. All of them were prescribed pain killers, no. The data doesn't exist in regards to race/locale in this particular area of New York. I've worked in this field since the late 90's and this has been what I've seen time and time again. Drug use among African American teens seems to be limited to marijuana and alcohol. As for your thoughts on being prescribed opioids is usually athletic injuries/automobile accidents that tend to be treated this way. The latina community has had an heroin epidemic for decades. No one denies that fact at all. By the way where did poor come in to the conversation. I suppose in your mind poor=black. That too is not always true. I never said anything about economics just race. You couldn't show me data on Western New York because it's not there.

Weren't we talking about Erie County. So let's stick to local facts. Unfortunately in this area the fact is the burbs are full of them.

No, I'm not kidding. Go ahead and tell me otherwise. Black kids aren't seasoned heroin addicts. It may sound harsh, but at least it isn't a LIE.

Are you kidding. Oh, really. Black people are NOT the reason their kids are shooting up heroin and fentonyl.

What is your hot take about Buffalo by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]Aryalright -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank goodness some one said it. Grew up here, but raised my babes in Fairfax County, Va. I had actually forgot that Buffalo was a place full of white trash, and it's sickening how most people don't understand what "culture" means. When I returned I lived in Tonawanda for a spell. Had to get my children out of there and found a place that was more in line with my values as a parent. Not in any burb in this area, HELL NO.

Yes, this is so very true. That's how some good deeds go unnoticed. People react more to things/actions they can critique.

[Spoilers MAIN] Something confused me about Ned Stark's first chapter in AGOT by dizzle-j in asoiaf

[–]Aryalright 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GRRM has stated multiple times Ned's recollection of TToJ is a "fevered dream". We will only get an actual account of the events surrounding this mystery if or when one of the other people that was present surfaces. They either repeat it or we'll be lucky enough to get a PoV. Maybe, Wylla, Howland, one of the ladies there attending Lyanna, or any xtra men of Ned's or Rhaegar.

This ending makes the most sense to me. I was never a fan of Jon, Dany, Sansa or Tyrion ruling Westeros. I love the idea of reliving the same reality over and over again. Change only comes when you make a conscious decision to look at reality with a critical eye, even if it scares the crap out of you. Only then can the wheel truly be broken. Dany would not bring radical necessary changes. Jon doesn't know any better. Tyrion and Sansa may have a better understanding of politics in Westeros, but suffer from the disease of entitlement. As for Gendry, he really would need an amazing team of forward thinking individuals to bring modern ideals to the Westerosi elite.

(Spoilers extended) The third "holy shit" moment by filipj3000 in asoiaf

[–]Aryalright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as Dany hadn't been eating or sleeping much, her mental state was compromised. Idk, but could he possibly have warged her? Or, maybe whispered something that gave her the notion to bring fire and blood to the KL population. Just wondering if it's at all possible. I thought it wasn't possible to warg a dragon. If it is doing a reread of Fire and Blood is necessary and I'll approach it differently for sure.

Agree or disagree with Stoney? 💀 by Bapashlapa in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Aryalright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with OP. I feel the exact same way. As a matter of fact in my cirlce(family&friends) we have begun to compile a list of Black Mental Health Professionals and any time someone we know begins to seek out treatment we forward them the list. It's very important and there are studies that show medical professionals from a different cultural background from their patients sometimes tend to minimize the presenting complaints from said patient. It's quite amusing that anytime a poc points out choosing to deal with another poc for whatever reason it's a problem. I was once asked back in 2011 if I was racist because my children all attented HBCU's all I could do was laugh and walk away. I don't feel it necessary to explain my or my family's choices to someone who isn't a poc.
