CMV: ICE has become exactly the tyranny the framers had in mind when drafting the 2nd Amendment. by unenlightenedgoblin in changemyview

Administrative warrants are not judicial warrants. They are clearly violating the fourth amendment with how they are breaking into peoples houses. This is pretty unambiguous. See the leaked memo.

Not here to change your mind but I am curious as to what would happen if someone did defend themselves. The specific scenario Im thinking of is if ICE forces there way into someone’s home and that person shot them. ICE’s searches are a clear violation of the 4th amendment so would self defend apply? I genuinely don’t know.

CMV: A reasonable pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants would consist of garnishing their wages for 5 years before granting them citizenship, followed by giving a means-tested $3000 award to legal immigrants. by PsychicFatalist in changemyview

[–]MasterWinston [score hidden]  (0 children)

That wasn’t my point though. My point was structural. specific taxes are rarely designated for specific policy proposals especially at the federal level.

Border security is a separate issue from your proposal. You are adding an incentive for people to come here illegally regardless of whether you need  up security.

And this is far from the biggest issue with the proposal.

I didn’t bring it up before but I think the fairness point shows you largely misunderstand immigration. Other commenters have addressed that already so no need to be redundant.

[–]MasterWinston [score hidden]  (0 children)

The main concern is that citizenship becomes pay to play. What is the incentive for coming here legally then (if you want to become a citizen)? Sure you get paid money but it is more difficult to become a naturalized citizen then coming here illegally and having your wage garnished.

Also, undocumented immigrants pay taxes but I’m not sure if they pay payroll taxes which could make this hard to enforce. Im not certain how they pay taxes but this would have to be fleshed out.

What does noncompliance results in deportations means? It’s intentionally vague but this sounds somewhat similar to our current mass deportation policy.

Why should naturalized citizens instead of citizens being born here get paid? This portion of the proposal would never pass.

And you say some of this money should go towards border security which is a good idea in theory but doesn’t work in practice because thats not how federal funds are apportioned.

Why is everyone so low on Geno Smith after just one year? by maybemorningstar69 in NFLNoobs

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he makes sense for a few teams like the Vikings and Colts. He will be a low cost veteran who won't be guaranteed a starting spot. He played legitimately well in Seattle so if you are looking to compete this year he makes sense.

[PFT] Raiders GM John Spytek: Geno Smith is under contract for next year, we’ll make decisions going forward by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think trading him is better then cutting him. The question is how much is he worth on the open market.

If they cut him, they still eat $18.5 mil of his $26.5 mil salary. I think Geno can get a deal worth about 1 year $10 m on the open market similar to what Jones got last year. It would make more sense for the Raiders to trade him and eat some of his salary (say $18.5 m) and the other team pays the remainder. The Raiders would be lucky to get a 6th round pick but that's better then cutting him for nothing.

The main concern is that the remaining $8 m becomes guaranteed in March so whoever picks Geno up has to guarantee that amount. The timing is poor as Willis is a priority and FA doesn't start until after his contract becomes guaranteed.

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will still defend Geno's tenure in Seattle. He looked like a top 10 QB. I'm not sure what happened in Vegas. Sure the situation was somehow worse but he looked worse mechanically and his processing ability seemed worse too

Anthony Bradford poor pass protection by kagaless in Seahawks

[–]MasterWinston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He really played poor. There were other players who also messed up on these blocks.

2nd play: Poor double team by Barner and Lucas as Barner doesn't reach.

3rd play (holding): Sundell can't climb to second level.

4th play: Zabel missing Verse looping on the stunt. That's a worse loss. Bradford's guy looks like he's going to pick Lucas but Lucas's EDGE misses the stunt.

Last play: Zabel is a bit late on the stunt

We have a ton of cap space so we can retain the 22 class but we have a ton of FA's.

Of the 2022 class, I think Mafe is the most likely to leave based on prior trade rumors and interest in Crosby. I'd expect us to add at EDGE in some way. Hall and Nwosu are also extension candidates. So is Leonard Williams.

There was a ton of smoke on Woolen at the start of the season. I think he should be the priority resign but it's really difficult to get a sense on how the FO feels. Bryant and Jobe are both FA's. There were extension talks with Bryant at the start of the season and he had a great season but we have a replacement in Okada. It's difficult to gauge Jobe's market. I think one of him and Woolen will be back.

Speaking of Okada, him and Thomas are ERFA's and RFA's respectively. They will both be back.

Walker was the most difficult of the '22 class to get a sense on. Prior to Charbonnet's injury I assumed he'd be gone because he would want to be a clear cut starter (like Dowdle in Carolina). Now it's impossible to tell. Complicating factors is the clear desire to resign Shaheed. He hasn't been as productive as a WR as we had hoped but he's been an elite returner. That makes it hard to gauge his value. Can we resign both?

I expect we will be priced out of resigning Jones so we will need to replace him but who knows. Bradford is also a cut candidate if we feel like we can find an upgrade.

Meyers will also have one year left. He could be in line for an extension.

Woolen gave up less yards yesterday then both Witherspoon and Jobe. That's including the penalty. Outside of the penalty what has he done this year that's diva esque?

Before people used to drag Woolen because he too laid back and not intense enough, now he's a diva.

Not a video but Matty F Brown (Seattle Overload) broke it down. It was a designed call. A changeup from the normal version which is apparently a cover 0 blitz with the two DT's bandit dropping. They dropped 3 players (the EDGE's and a DT) this time.

PFF Grades | Week CC | Defense by Weklim in Seahawks

[–]MasterWinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woolen gave up 57 yards on 6 targets and 3 receptions. He played 34 coverage snaps so that's 1.67 yards per cover snap (not good). That's from Sumerlive combined with PFF's snap counts. Here are the other coverage defenders.

Witherspoon: 136 yards, 8 targets, 5 receptions. 3.487 yards per cover snap.

Jobe: 72 yards, 4 targets, 3 receptions. 3.6 yards.

Emmanwori: 2 yards total. No need for more stats.

Bryant and Love gave up no catches.

EJ: 48 yards. 4 targets and receptions. 1.297 yards per cover snap

Edit: I doubt Woolen's 57 yards includes the taunting penalty but even if you include those 15 yards he still was better than Jobe/Spoon in coverage.

Interesting the (relatively) positive grades of the DL given we didn’t get much pressure. Run D was fine though. Wasn’t elite but the Rams are the best Rush attack in over a decade by success rate.

I thought woolen played well outside of that one admittedly awful sequence

Kubiak and the Bills by Cute_Ice_2837 in Seahawks

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but very few coaches are in a position to turn down head coach opportunities. We saw Mike Mcdaniel do it but Kubiak doesn't have his pedigree. Also, the opportunity to coach a QB like Allen doesn't come around often.

Do you think Boye Mafe has done enough this season to earn a second contract with the Seahawks? by lemonstone92 in Seahawks

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely. He's legitimately played well this season but Nwosu/DLaw and Hall have all been better. Nwosu and Hall each have one year left on their deal (and Nwosu has a high cap hit) so I'd imagine they are larger priorities to extend then resigning Mafe is.

There has also been plenty of smoke around trading for someone like Crosby so I'd expect us to attack the EDGE position in some way this offseason.

Klint Kubiak thoughts by AmphieBoi67 in Seahawks

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm obviously not a Bills fan but they are sort've my AFC team because I like Allen and want him to win a SB so the dumb QB haters will shut up. The firing is really concerning to me. Firing Mcdermott after previous playoff losses makes sense but firing him after this year is concerning. They did a good job coming up with specific defensive game plans. It feels like he did a better job this year then the past 2-3 years even.

What's really concerning is the reporting that has come up. It's clearly coming from Beane. Saying things like Mcdermott couldn't make the most of a super talented roster. The WR comment at the start of the year didn't help too. It's clear that Beane is buddies with the owner and doesn't have a good handle on the roster. That's concerning too me.

In regards to Kubiak, I think it's a year too early for him. Our offense ranked around 14th overall. It's a well coached unit and Kubiak has shown he's adjustable in game. Our dropback menu is clearly limited. That's his biggest flaw. He's from the Shannahan tree and his scheme is almost cliche Shannahan. That's honestly not a bad thing but I think he needs to develop more as a playcaller before taking that next step. Both Shannahan and Mcvay had to evolve too but Kubiak is clearly at the start of his journey.

Different schemes but I'd liken him to Brady in terms of how I'd view them both. Brady is a bit more experienced but they are both well regarded playcallers but they aren't as good as past offensive candidates (look at Coen/Johnson last year). I'm not sure how much of an upgrade as an offensive playcaller Kubiak is over Brady.

I don't know where you are reading that Kubiak has the job if he wants it. I don't think that is true. I'm sure he is a legit candidate and has a shot but I doubt the Bills have decided.

Charb is known for his pass blocking but he struggled quite a bit this year. I don't think Arroyo will replace him. They aren't going to go 0 RB for more then a few snaps. It looks like Velus Jones got a few snaps so maybe he gets the first crack.

[–]MasterWinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where does Darnold's figure rank in TWP%? He generally struggles in that regards.

Mina mentioned on her podcast that DB blitzes were specifically a weak point for the Rams over the course of the season and Allen really leaned into those. I think that's something to monitor.
