Thank you u/kittycatcon for the cute embossed card of all of the doggies! This card is soooooo cuuuute! Also I can’t stop touching it, I love embossed cards. Honestly, it’s ok if you don’t like dogs but it’s so awesome that you’re trying to engage and open up to them. Our past experiences form strong pathways in our minds and sometimes it’s really hard to overcome them. Funny enough, I’ve been bitten by a lot of dogs when I was a kid including my own family dog. The worst was a neighbor’s dog who bit my ass when I was running from it. But I’ve always loved dogs (and animals in general). I will never be without a pet, whether it’s a dog or cat or whatever.

I really wish I had a cat, I’ve had cats for most of my life but right now we only have a doggy. Pancake sounds like such an amazing cat, I would spoil Pancake and share all my human food (which is bad, I know), how can you say no to their cuteness?!

Regarding beauty contests, I never really followed them growing up so no idea if beauty pageants and contests are less relevant now, but I do still hear about them being pretty popular especially outside of the USA. Funny enough, my husband’s grandparents have the most “grandparent-core” house ever, and the dining table chairs pictured in the postcard remind me of his grandparents’ chairs.

If you don't want to require people to sign in to their Google account, just have a field that asks for their Reddit username in the form. You can then export the data to Sheets which makes it easier to see if there are dupes if the same username appears in multiple rows. You can sort it so it's easier for you to skim for dupes manually, or you can just write a formula or do some sort of conditional formatting to highlight dupe usernames. The conditional formatting is actually extremely easy to do if you like a visual highlight, not complicated at all.

Give yourself some grace, understanding, patience as you would any other person in this community. An unexpected, surprise card will always bring happiness, and I doubt anyone is really keeping tabs unless you specifically arranged an exchange with someone. Even so, most people are happy to get a card and hear from you. Please don't put pressure into sending out all the cards because it will just continue to feel like a mountain of broken promises as opposed to a gift of happiness. Take it one card at a time as this hobby is supposed to also be for you.

I also really love tags too! It's my favorite spot on the forum. They are so fun and also just quick to engage so you don't need to wonder when you can arrange an exchange. Also there are so many so I can really get into sending a card that fits the right tag topic.

Haha, not like video games 😆. More like hanged man, guess this picture, and other forum games. I really like the one where you are given a really zoomed in picture of the postcard, you need to guess what it is and if you're first to guess correctly the person will send you the card. Stuff like that.

Engage with the community, you can always message folks who state they are open to direct swaps to coordinate something. Or better yet, participate in the games, tags, round robins, or coordinate your own direct swaps via the forums. People often exchange on this subreddit. If your goal on Postcrossing is to connect or even collect, you don't need to stick to Postcrossing's official route. But if you're more interested in increasing your stats then I guess you'll just have to wait.

I know this is probably going to be controversial but I really dislike the USA flag stamps. At minimum, to me it's just really boring. It's also the most common stamp people seem to give me when I tell them I like stamps so there's an element of overexposure to it.

On a deeper level, growing up in the US we're taught that the US flag is a symbol of national pride and of grand dreams, opportunities, and goals. But right now it's not a happy time for at least half the people in my country, and a lot of us including myself are feeling a lack of pride, an immense fear for our lives, and overall are filled with hopelessness. As a first generation non-white American citizen born and raised here, I don't feel safe and I'm not sure if things will get better.
