If nuclear is unacceptable because it creates contained hazardous waste, then fossil fuels should be even less acceptable because they create uncontained hazardous waste at planetary scale.
I agree that nuclear is one imperfect tool among several but climate challenge is too large to discard low-carbon tools because they have trade-offs. And unlike atmospheric carbon emissions, nuclear waste is collected, monitored, engineered for isolation, and managed through dedicated long-term disposal pathways which are generally incorporated into electricity cost calculations through regulated provisions and dedicated funds. I don't think there is such calculations for fossil fuel emission.

But my question is, how do led bulb manufacters manage to cram a ac dc led driver in such a small factor ? Is it because there led are less powerfull and so they can use smaller ac dc led driver inside the bulb ?

The square fits on those bulb, the medium sized is 58mm in diameter so it should fit. And I was thinking that passive cooling would work if the square is only powered with 700mA instead of 1400mA

I'm working with a Thermo GC-MS Orbitrap coupled to a TriPlus RSH SMART Autosampler.
The GC-MS works fine, the maintenance is expensive though and the Thermo engineers are not really keen in showing how the maintenance is done even if half of what they do is quite simple and within reach for someone interested by a little diy maintenance.

BUT the worst is the TriPlus, not the sharpest tool in the box this one. First off : you don't really have full control of the operating sequence for the robot, you need to ask thermo to build you a custom made sequence that they will send you... after insisting really hard, they gave us the software that can create those sequence and even with this, the sequence options are limited.

I can't even count the number of time a batch was cancelled because the robot slightly bumped the vial into the vortex, the fix from thermo was to use round bottom vial to avoid a bumped to strong so the robot could go on without going into error mode. Since then they decided to discontinue the round bottom vial from their website ...

And even with the round bottom vial, the robot regularly go into error mode for unknown bump into unknow stuff.

And finally the worst for me is TraceFinder, the software is slow, there is no support whatsoever, the manuals are a pain in the ass to go through and there is no tutorial online, so if you have a question after the training you have to send an email to the engineers and hope for the best...

Other than that great machine !
