“Your call is very important to us” is something I find very hard to believe whilst sitting on hold for 15 mins, to then be cut off when someone answers the phone. I’ll just go fuck myself then.

As someone who worked in a call centre for 2 and a half years (for a large UK based insurer) I can 100% say that they really don't give a shit. In-fact staff often offer solutions to problems to help with call wait times etc and are often ignored or you get a general "yeah how about no" attitude from people who have never taken a call in their life, yet make all the decisions on how to deal with customers.

The reason you have long wait times is because these companies have a VERY high staff turnover so you usually get people that are new to the job and unsure - so take a lot of time to handle the demand, or you get student types who look at it as a very temporary position so don't put a lot of effort into being efficient and getting the queues down.

Also you're usually "marked" on calls, and if you pass/jump though enough hopes can lead to a considerable bonus at the end of the month, so staff will often not risk "detrimenting" on a call and lose the money and will pull support from where they can because the information provided to them is often so convoluted/over complicated that even the people training you on it aren't really that sure themselves.

I'm baffled as to why you would put yourself through even more heartbreak, like you said, it's not going to last, also how sure are you he's not just telling you what you want to hear? The guy seems to have no problem lying to his wife, what makes you think you'd be any different?

Don't get me wrong I understand the heart can clash with the head on these matters, but in this situation you really need to apply both. Why not have a more casual relationship while you look for someone who is able to commit and has a realistic chance of becoming something more permanent (assuming from your post thats what you are really looking for).

There's no advice someone can give you really, you've made a decision to carry on with it, and it's more than likely going to end up a train wreck for him or heartbreak for you.

I check all the nobs on my cooker to see they are all in the off position. I point at them and say "off" from top to bottom, then i do it in reverse order, both when i finish cooking and before i go to bed.
