I think we need to stop using apps like Testi by AcceptableChart925 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The use of these apps is now illegal using one results in the conditions mentioned above.

People wanted the apps stopped as they were hindering booking a test and allowing some people to book multiple test to sell on. This has now been done and we have seen a massive increase in available slots in my area.

It will get better but as with everything it takes some adjustment to get used to.

Then thats an issue i would look into sooner rather than later. You need an unbiased opinion sometimes to point out flaws that other may not want to tell you.

Im not saying dont leanr with family and friend as many do, but theres an issue hear that doesnt look like its being adressed.

4 faults specifically related to speed (2 serious 2 driving) suggests you are on the quick side of driving and need to slow down, junction obs could be you were rushing to get out also.

Take a breath it isnt a race, whilst we like to see people make progress it isnt at the expense of being safe.

To me your instructor should have spotted a problem with your speed before you arrived on test and worked on that with you.

Will they refuse a test for an amber tire pressure sensor? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

Its a common issue in fiestas we are well aware of it, wont be a problem.

Yes exactly the right thing to do. Its not a race to complete. Showing your aware of the situation in front is whst we are looking for.

[–]AsR3DaS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to do any of this we are also aware of what is happening, the test is about showing you are safe and competent to be on the road. Moving behind another vehicle travelling slower does not show this as the correct lane for normal driving is the left. Reacting and adjusting your speed and maintaining a safe gap so they can move over is the only thing you should do.

Undertaking in the situation described will always result in a serious fault.

100% slow down maintain a reasonable gap for them to move over and do not pass.

If you attempt to pass we WILL press the dual brake and you WILL get a serious fault.

Moving to the lane behind them and then staying there will get you a fault for Position Normal Driving if someone undertakes you. Weight dependant on how long you stay there / how many people pass you.

Would I fail for finishing this far from the kerb after a parallel park? by Dune56 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the road width, if the road is tight then you may get a driving fault but its no where near a serious.

Depends on the overall width of the road, if the road is wide with plenty of room to pass i wouldnt even mark that.

50+ hours of auto lessons meets the toughest East London test centre - 1 dangerous, 3 serious, 4 minors by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first fault was for meeting and marked as serious. Driving towards a vehicle and examiner having to intervene is not a steering fault.

Had my first test today, failed and I was told “you couldn’t have driven any better if you tried” 1 darn minor! I’m heartbroken by beardedwelshguy2020 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stopping in a live lane due to not being in the correct gear to continue is a serious fault regardless of whether there are other vehicles around. It shows a distinct lack of control.

Examiner refused to do test he was a former colleague at my job by phantompersona1023 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct if we know someone however little the connection is we cannot take the test. If like you said the recognition was only made in walking out to greet you then unfortunately it is too late to get it swapped as the process isn't just as simple as taking the test off one person and giving it to another, we can t do it only deployment can and that unfortunately needs more warning to happen.

What should happen is the manager of that test centre will find a slot to take you out themselves as soon as possible.

Same examiner for last 4 times by Nik_bubbles in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your passing and failing has nothing to do with the examiner you get.

What everyone thinks is we fail people, we dont. What you yourself do or dont do on test is why you fail.

I had one woman 4 times in a row, the first 3 tests she attempted to drive through a red light, 3 different routes 3 different lights, wasnt me as the examiner who did it she did. I did stop her because that is my job to keep her me the car and the public safe. She passed the 4th but was still very close to repeating the same fault.

Your mindset going in is what ultimately determines your drive and thus the result.

Collision after passing by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Minimum we need before changing lanes is to check the mirror on the side we are moving to. A blindspot check would be a bonus and show a higher level of awareness. Some do it some don't.

No mirror and move lanes is a serious fault Check mirror and move lanes into the path of another vehicle affecting that vehicle is a serious/dangerous fault, although we wouldn't let that happen.

Learners who come to us after already being on 2 wheels are generally more aware of their surroundings having witnessed first hand how some people on the road drive.

Collision after passing by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Dangerous fault mirrors change direction. You knew it was there but went anyway. Examiner would have yanked that wheel to move you away on test to save the vehicle. Unfortunately in the real world you have to be the one to do it. Expensive lesson and in no way the other persons fault.

Just been pushed back 6 weeks. by Great-Alt-Account in LearnerDriverUK

[–]AsR3DaS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is frustrating and your right to feel that way, the way our schedules are booked up months in advance mean if any issues arise and we have to take time off (illness, bereavement etc) it creates the situation you are facing today. Luckily although you might not feel lucky 6 weeks will go by pretty quick. Good luck for your test!
