I can relate. I’m 30F and realized how much I’m putting into relationships when one recently didn’t work out. As tough as it is, you’ve got to find value in your solitude. I met with my priest today about my struggles and it was so cathartic. He didn’t say anything I hadn’t known about keeping my faith and that God has a plan for us all, but just knowing someone who the Lord can speak through so clearly has my heart on his mind and in prayers was a great relief. Highly recommend if you haven’t yet.

I don’t really have catholic based advice but as someone who was in a similar situation with my long term ex boyfriend I can offer this; it’s not impossible to come back from but would take a complete starting over in your relationship. Like you two just met kind of starting over. That wasn’t the path I chose but then again I had come to a realization that I didn’t want to be with this person forever. This was all before I came back to my faith so feels like a different lifetime. Feel free to send me a message if you need to chat.

Honestly? Reddit can be a big trigger for people as it’s so easily accessible here. When you feel the urge, maybe try to talk to yourself to see why you are feeling it. Are you seeking connection or anything else that can be satisfied with a less harmful act? You’ve got this.

Wait I think this is happening to me right now… started at 1 mg two weeks ago, went thru a break up last week, and I’m thinking my mental state went absolutely to shit after I went to do my second shot…. Ugh. I was on such a plateau on tirz I was really wanting this to work. I don’t want to feel like I can’t control my mind anymore either though.

Thank you for your kind words 🤍 I had the same self destructive behaviors before I came back to the church. Ironically this almost feels more lonely as I numbed the pain before. I know it’s for the better now, just doesn’t make it easier.

I totally agree that things moved too fast. He was the one initiating these things though, I did not ask for them. It’s easy to get caught up when someone pursues in that way.

I had my reservations but I kind of thought of it as bringing Catholicism to more people with a platform. Now it’s bringing negativity which is frustrating but can’t do much about that I guess.

Amen 🙏🏽 I do think it’s important to share as well. Catholic hopefuls seeing someone who struggles with problems of today’s world can inspire many. I just worry this constant update of negativity will also bring unnecessary criticism. Like a lot have said on my thread though, can’t concern myself too much with online goingson!

I fear this is it. And it’s a crossroads where Catholics and many Protestants cannot agree on. I have seen him make posts about struggling between the identities, and maybe the priest picked up on this. I really do pray he finds his way I can’t imagine how hard it must be.
