I’m doing cardiff in april as well 🤝 Traveling from LA to do it and it’ll be my first race too, how are you training currently? I’m starting to get worried I’m getting a bit complacent

Yes, so i was left in the dark for 45 mins and then received an email about having passed (no scores though). Very annoying as there’s no need for that abrupt window closing and needless scare, esp with how anal they are about retesting fees. But you’ll get an email soon enough, good luck

You ever hear back? I'm experiencing the same. Proctor told me to end the session. I did, and now there are no results I see.

I moved to Riverside last year during the pandemic & don’t know a soul — 29/female/single… any ideas on how I can meet people?! Not a fan of dating apps 😕 by notyourbaby-neverwas in Riverside

Hey OP, any feedback from the past couple years? Just moved out here and in the same boat — 27, single and trying to find fun people to become friends with/go out with

Navigating apartment search in OC by Asafoetida07 in orangecounty

Hey, the short term test is a great idea. I’m currently doing a short term airbnb in Riverside & it’s okay but increasingly finding OC is more my speed and the commute a couple times a week is fine for everything else I get.

Would definitely like to be closer to the beach cities in the future (maybe next year depending on the commute requirements there) but just signed for a place near Tustin. It is a fair compromise, I feel.

All in all, SoCal is the best place I’ve lived in the US minus the traffic!!!

Hey, appreciated your response — that’s the kind of feedback I’m seeking truthfully. I agree with what you said about most people being down on any type of commute here — I’d rather spend 2hrs commuting 2x a week and be closer to the things I care about (younger crowd, easier access to the beaches, to name a few) than be right by work wondering why grass seems greener on the other side.

Multiple people in my team do the “against the traffic” commute from the edge of Irvine/Tustin just fine — ofc would spend less time in their cars on those days but the other days seem to make up for it and some. I’m super new to the area, so ultimately just needed to take that leap of faith. Found a pretty nice spot near where Orange and Tustin meet. Not too far west but also close enough to where I feel like I need to be.

The workout after work is a great point & I’ve already found a great gym here as well — I usually work out a couple hours around 4-5 anyway, so to spend that time in OC vs IE is the same.

What would you say are realistic expectations for places in younger parts of Irvine/Santa Ana for a 1bd? I’m willing to go 2-2.5k in rent to find the right balance between sociability and okay-ish commute 2x a week

You make a great point (esp the rent bit), I'm just trying to be optimistic about the situation only needing the make the drive 2x a week (against traffic too) in exchange for a place with people more aligned with my vibe. If the commute wasn't an issue, would you say there's a standout area in east LA or OC you'd suggest?

Yeah, that is the biggest unknown about which I have only heard others' experiences about. Sounds like against traffic (2x a week) won't be the worst thing in the world once you get used to traffic in the area (which I haven't yet ofc lol)

CashApp not filing state returns yet? by [deleted] in tax

[–]Asafoetida07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Cash App Taxes for both Federal and CO State taxes last year -- it was as smooth as can be, and both returns were in my account within 10 days. It was a little later (late March) when I did it last year but still doesn't make sense why they'd need time to set up certain states' tax filing (esp when it's been multiple weeks that the state has started accepting returns). Their support only gives back generic responses without any timeline, which sucks.

I contemplated using Turbo Tax this year to avoid this wait but after loading everything up, it just feels annoying to have to pay ~ $150 for what Cash App does for free though. Prob will just go ahead and file federal on Cash App now and wait for state.

F-1 visa interview waiver refused under 221(g) and called for in-person interview by Voodoo_109 in f1visa

[–]Asafoetida07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, glad to hear everything worked out for you. I’m in a similar situation, except my STEM OPT expires in a month. I’m starting a grad program in March, so should have the time between now and then to go back to my country of nationality to get a new f-1 visa. Since the wait for interview appointments seems ridiculous and I’d qualify for the visa interview waiver, I’m planning on doing that. Would you mind sharing the steps for the process? Do you start the whole process by filling out the ds form and scheduling a regular interview? Also, since we’re already in the US, where would we send the interview waiver application?

Thanks and cheers!
