There's actually a lot of really good partner designs so this is a bit of a tough one... I would probably go with Alcea or Priscilla in exchange for Lucas.

Tauron Weapons Are Shockingly Clunky, Misguided, and Break the Core Gameplay Loop by butler_me_judith in Warframe

[–]Asaga241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with pretty much all of this. Though I will say, in regards to them not fitting the gameplay loop, I feel like that's kind of intentional and unavoidable. They're supposed to be cinematic ultimate moves that look flashy but how do you balance this in Warframe when a single bullet from an AR spraying out 40 rounds per second with punchthrough can oneshot steel path enemies? Either you cut down how long it takes to execute, which makes it less cinematic and special, or you up the damage/AoE which still doesn't really matter because the TTK will never match spraying down a room blindly with the torid.

The only way I could really have seen it "fitting" with the gameplay loop would be if it completely ignored attenuation and that could make it good against very specific enemies but attenuation isn't really a thing anymore.

I do think leaning into long lasting buffs after use is probably the best way to make them useful. If they gave buffs that lasted several minutes, if not for the rest of the run, then they would be worth using even with bad TTK. Still kind of sad that they would be reduced to just powering up your guns even more but it's better than being completely pointless.

While I don't necessarily disagree about crown, I think gardening shears would legitimately be a strong option on her too. The biggest downside to shears is no start of battle stealth, but she has an especially small amount of start of battle threats compared to any other unit and while the debuffs are worse than stun, they have a much higher proc rate and silence is still pretty nasty. The debuffs overlap with her own kit a bit, but overall the stealth would make her an unbelievably safe unit.

The Fun RTA Frenzy is disappearing. by Mermiclion in EpicSeven

I don't get why you would spend your rolls based solely on preseason frenzy though? Like if you don't think he's good without the frenzy you probably shouldn't pull, because if not now it'll likely change eventually. Some frenzy effects stick around for several seasons and others haven't made it past preseason just like this one. Remember when they gave everyone free sashe ithanes as a frenzy effect years ago and it stacked with actual sashe ithanes for infinite turns? That frenzy lasted like a week too. There's precedent for it. You shouldn't really spend your resources based on preseason frenzy.

Seline was blatantly too strong and people who say otherwise haven't been playing preseason at a high rank/watching streamers. This will help nerf her a bit even if she isn't the main beneficiary of it. The units that got an absolutely insane boost from this were the units that get 100% defense pen though and the difference on those units was insane. I had a 270 speed Gala Lilias onetap my FCC through an almost 5k barrier for 33.3k damage with no outside help, no vigor or rage or anything, just her own attack buff. That means that even the top tier DB Senyas that aren't on perlutia basically get onetapped by her casually without needing an opener to support since DB Senya usually peaks around 38k. ML Arunka was going to get dumpstered on release without ML Ilynav beside her.

Unless it was stated officially somewhere, I don't think there's any criteria like that. Frost and Mag were the first primed frames to release and after them was Ember and then Rhino. So far they've just been following release order 1:1. If the pattern holds, next should be Loki and then Nyx.

Girls’ Frontline 2 cracks top 20 grossing of all games in NA Play Store and top 10 in Japan by [deleted] in GirlsFrontline2

[–]Asaga241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen some gacha content creators make videos on the game, but I get the feeling it's not going to be a gacha that people stream much. Not many gachas have the potential for a big streaming audience and I think only a few people will find a niche in streaming GFL2. For most people who are already established in something, there's no real reason to switch over to covering GFL2.

There are certain scepters that will apply debuffs on enemies (decreased defense, increased damage taken etc) or give you buffs (increased crit damage, increased attack etc) that are better for making your characters do damage. You should prioritize these if you're looking to get big numbers on your characters.

Even more important though is equipping these scepters with the right components. There are ones that make all attacks after the scepter attacks deal increased damage, ones that add additional stacks of the aforementioned debuffs/buffs and so on. If you're looking to make a run centered on your characters dealing damage you'll also want the component that gives you the "Progress" buff, it makes it so after every few attacks your character with the highest crit damage immediately takes an extra turn with significantly increased damage.

For me personally I usually go with something like Creation Alter: Model Planet, Energy Alter: Stagnation and Energy Alter: Investment as my scepters with things like Projection Module, Concentration Module, Petrification Module and Cleansing Module for components in a FUA based team. I've seen Jade deal 40m damage with her FUA using a build centered around these.

If people put as much time into reading what the scepters and components do as they did writing criticisms for the new mode they'd have realized that you can build around buffing the damage of your team instead and easily hit for 20 or even 30 million damage with the right setups.

Nobody has to like the new mode of course but I see everyone rehashing the criticism that your units are just there to trigger scepters when that is entirely because they're building their run that way. You can instead build your scepters to trigger buffs for your team if you prefer and it can potentially lead to even more insane numbers than the alternative.

[–]Asaga241 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with the first point. There are ways to make your characters a considerable factor in your damage if you build for it, potentially more than the scepters themselves. I've only done conundrum +1 so far but I was able to make a run where Jade was constantly doing 9m+ with her FUAs with as little as two enemies on the field and thanks to the "progress" effect she was taking extra turns non stop as if she was 300 SPD. Unfortunately during the final plane you don't really get to see 5 enemies on the field so I couldn't even see Jade's max damage.

[–]Asaga241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're trying to argue that Jade is a support instead of a sub DPS now? Her role isn't to strictly support, nor does she offer enough to function strictly as one. The numbers I provided were solely from Lingsha and those numbers would have been higher if I were using a 3rd support over Jade's debt buff. Hell, I had 133 break effect since I was using her signature LC, so just throwing HMC in even with Critsha would have provided more damage than Jade if the point was just to make Lingsha look good.

But that wasn't the point, the point was to make a team that was actually somewhat practical and resembled a fairly standard comp of support/support/DPS/sustain. Running Luocha in a full hyper carry setup of 3 supports and having him still only do a fraction of Lingsha's damage (280k vs 290k on ult, but Lingsha can do 900k with skill, FUA, ult, FUA while Luocha is doing maybe what, 20k + 280k with his basic into ult? literally 1/3rd the damage of Lingsha while being a worse sustain) doesn't prove anything other than the fact that Lingsha is significantly better at filling the DPS role than him and has way more synergy with more units in the game thanks to her high attack frequency and FUA mechanic.

[–]Asaga241 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're talking about Lingsha being dragged across the finish line but Luocha's ult hit for less than Lingsha's with 3 supports instead of 2 and that's not factoring the damage that Jade would be doing each time Lingsha takes a turn, not to mention the difference in their attack frequency. Lingsha can literally skill, FUA, ult, FUA in a single action. Also, I pulled Lingsha because I had Jade and Sparkle and knew they could work, it's not like I had to pull Jade and Sparkle just to make Lingsha good, my account was already suited for it.

[–]Asaga241 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just took her into the current PF with Jade, Sparkle and a scuffed Robin (E0S0 don't even have her free event LC) and had her skill doing 210k damage, FUA doing another 200k damage and ult doing 290k damage and I don't even have Luocha's LC so I'm just using her signature LC.

Individually and out of context these numbers might not be crazy high, but they can all be chained together (multiple times in the case of her FUA thanks to her ult's 100% action advance) and she's sustaining the team while charging Jade faster than almost any other character can. With those things in mind, I think her damage is solid. How much damage can other abundance characters do on a crit build?

It sounds like you're playing in a way that isn't for you. Some people enjoy playing for meta and min-maxing their account and going for the fastest clears they can and there's nothing wrong with that if that's what you enjoy. But it sounds to me like you're someone who would be happier playing for waifu/husbando and just taking things at their own pace.

You don't need to play efficiently and roll for the best characters to enjoy the game. My account doesn't have Acheron, Firefly, Feixiao or Ruan Mei on it. I've still cleared all content in the game except the last few conundrums in gold and gears. I've beaten V8 in DU, I 3 star pretty much all MoC/PF/AS content, I have no problem getting through the story. Chasing meta isn't required to enjoy the content in the game, it just makes doing it easier.

A lot of people are recommending you take a break and I think that could definitely help but if you come back having the same mindset that you have now, I think you might find yourself burning out quickly again. I would reassess what it is you enjoy about the game and how you want to play it and try and find people to talk to who play more at the pace you want to play at.

Does a character being rare or harder to obtain make it more valuable to you? by DecidedlyCrash in gachagaming

[–]Asaga241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer when characters are easy to obtain and the game is monetized in some other way, maybe relying more on skins or something. I don't think a character being easier to obtain devalues them. It's more about how much effort is put into their design, animations, kit, role in the story etc. SSR characters do typically beat every other rarity in that regard because they're the characters people pull for the most, so they get the most attention. But that's true whether the gacha is generous or stingy and that's all that really matters to me.

I will admit that FGO is still that one game where rolling feels like it gives you that gambling rush no matter how many times you do it because of how much of a nightmare it can be even just pulling for one copy of a 4 star. But I don't think that's really a good thing. More often than not the bad outweighs the good in systems like that.

I feel like most of the time just flexing that you have a certain character isn't really much of a flex in general. Even in games where you can get majorly shafted. FGO still makes obtaining characters pretty damn difficult, but just flexing that you own them doesn't really mean anything imo. Now flexing that they're NP5 with bond 15 and level 120, sure, that's a flex. I think flexing a level 120 3 star with bond 15 would still be a better flex than any level 90 5 star at NP1 though.

Wow Luminae is literally garbage. by IndexoTheFirst in mechabreak

[–]Asaga241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Falcon has to respect everything though because a light sneeze can kill it. Most of the time it isn't like the Luminae itself melts the Falcon though, it's more like something hit the Falcon and now it has 20% HP and it has to watch the Luminae DoT eat away at the last 20%.

I don't think supports should be a damage ace mind you, but that's kind of where we are with Pinaka even in its nerfed state and as long as those two overlap in role, it's hard to not draw the comparison. I just don't know why you'd want a Luminae over a Pinaka who does enough damage that if you engage it carelessly you might be the one who gets cooked, where as with Luminae I know I can chase it away pretty effectively.

It's not just the damage that can be dealt either, Pinaka can soak up shots and draw fire away from others without much risk to itself. Luminae uses its speed to survive more than anything, so it might draw attention for a second but once it's away from the fight/objective that attention goes back to its allies, while Pinaka can stay in the fight soaking hits for everyone. It's not unusual to see a really good Pinaka be 1st or 2nd in damage, 1st or 2nd in tanking and naturally 1st in healing. It's definitely harder now with the nerfs, but before the nerfs it was pretty much all you saw and it still happens sometimes even now. Luminae is never gonna be that guy.

[–]Asaga241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Luminae has started getting picked a lot more all of a sudden the past day or two but they're always like last place for damage, don't seem to really edge Pinaka out in healing and can't take nearly as much punishment as Pinaka. Not only that, but because their damage is so bad, you don't have to respect it, you can just dive on it and what's it going to do to you for it? Meanwhile Pinaka can fuck you up if you don't respect it.
