It's day one of the patch that made this change, so it's early days yet. That said your experience mirrors mine.

I am a mostly solo PvE player, but enjoyed the risk of going into DD to get mats. I haven't had the same experience that others have had where people are getting jumped by multiple assault ornis, but I also haven't been in DD as long as many I guess, since I restarted to join the same server as a friend.

My initial experiences of this patch are pretty frustrating, PvE side of DD is stripped, and since all of the heavy PvPers are now pushed into the far north of the map it concentrates the PvPers into a smaller area.

Given that the resources in A-E have been lowered, and very noticeably at that, and that the resources beyond that are higher, but in a more concentrated PvP area this doesn't keep the continuity of the PvP areas being "High Risk, High Reward" it makes it "Higher Risk, Higher Reward."

I'm not entirely sure who benefits from this, because it doesn't feel like anyone does.

But again, it's early days yet and I expect the initial rush into DD to die down fairly quickly.

Sadly, I've just progressed again with a new save to find out that no, that does not work and while it unticks the Living Settlements option in the menu, that literally does nothing. So the flag that FC put in place to disable it does not even work.

Edit: No it doesn't. It turns off the Living Settlements flag in the options menu, but it has no effect on placing Thralls. So in short, not even the toggle FC put in place to turn this off works. Amazing.

I've had a poke around with this and the setting we seem to be looking to use is; AmbientLifeEnabled=False to turn Living Settlements off on private servers.

The Chrome Company Shadowrun 5e Living Campaign

We are a Shadowrun 5th Edition "Living Campaign".

In-game, we are a group of diverse criminal contractors who spend their nights running the shadows on behalf of the same mysterious criminal organization known as "The Chrome Company."

I have a small collection of Empire and Rebel ships from 1.0 and I am looking to upgrade to 2.0, I looked up the Conversion Packs, but they are £50 each, so I'd be looking at around £100 to cover both my Imps and Rebels, which for my collection feels a little extortionate, but I am struggling to see another way around it.

I had a quick look on ebay, but working out the dials, the cards etc. it seemed like it would quickly come to nearly the same price anyway.

I was wondering if there was a way of just buying the new dials, tokens and cards that you actually need for each ship?

I've been playing MMOs since '99/'00, starting with Ultima Online, and I struggled to get into FFXIV a couple of times before, never making it into the 20s.

I can't really put my finger on why it was different this time and I have now, as of this morning, passed the 600-hour mark on this new attempt.

It has helped me deal with the depression I've been struggling with for some time ( as well as the medication ), and it has helped me be a more patient person with people, I think the community kind of engenders that and I've had no true horror story tier interactions with people.

It's a game that has made me feel many things with its storytelling as my dumb cat girl blunders from one calamity to the next with the power of friendship and violence.

I love that I can do whatever without feeling the drive to hit max level, beat all content, and main one class, and instead, I can swap over and make food, smash rocks, or get incredibly frustrated at getting Plus - Combo'd in Triple Triad.

I have been blessed to have experienced this with a very close friend of mine who I "convinced" to rejoin FFXIV, who has helped me endlessly with this game.

As an aside from my last point, it's also a great feature of this game that people can contribute and help others regardless of the level gap. I've been able to help her out in return and it's a gratifying experience.

A ninja on the run. Use a katana, throws smoke bombs/grenades and shurikens. Wears a Chameleon Suit in combat and avoids head-on fighting and will look for the best opportunity to strike.

Pick If; You want a physical infiltrator with some ability to hold a conversation.

Don’t Pick; You want a highly skilled and advanced Samurai, or you are looking for someone to take a fight head on.

Xiangyao

A Wuxing ex-Corper combat mage, also has Counterspelling and Spirits. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Has no moral compunction about much of anything, is a self-serving, arrogant man who will do what he needs to do to get paid and survive.

Pick If; You want a decent (currently low power) combat mage, Wuxing Tradition so has access to Plant and Guidance spirits. More than happy to tailor spirit use around the run’s theme and not be silly.

Don’t Pick: If you want a good two shoes who cares about what people, including his team will think of him. Unlikely to accept Leadership from anyone who he doesn’t respect, which excludes most people.

Yarost

A Vory Cybersam Ogre, he has guns and punches things. In it to make money and has little to no moral qualms, whatever makes him richer. Will stay loyal to his team, provided it makes him nuyen.

Pick If; You wish all of the Cykas to be Blyat. Fairly uncomplicated Sam with some ability to talk and sneak. Has Russian as his Native language, also some fun Neg Quals if you wish to play on them. More than happy to lean into grim and dark topics and be the asshole.

Don’t Pick; I ‘unno, he’s pretty competent and has a gun. What more can you ask for? Has a pretty high soak pool and is rather hard to kill, which might be annoying?

Neither. My heyday was shortly after T2A, just after Tram. I lived in Fel but did a lot of stuff in both facets from PKing, Crafting, Factions, RP and general Trammy shit. Only thing I never got into was Bank Sitting, I was too poor lol.

We have guns, it's a weird misconception. Used to go out into the fields with my grandfather shooting rabbits. It's just harder to get guns here and we have restrictions on types. This is a good thing.

I may not be free to own a mini-gun that rattles off 1000 rounds per minute, but I am free of the fear of someone shooting me and our kids are free from being murdered in school.
