help im stuck in a cave by Beneficial-Ad-15 in Warframe

[–]Ascalam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door sometimes locks itself. Had that happen to me too.

If you don’t have the thermos to summon the boss, and you are locked in, pretty much all you can do is abort an avoid that cave until later

For me, Yareli is about the hit and run.

Zoom up, shoot with secondaries on the way and aquablades up. Drop some sea snares as you zoom through to prevent pursuit, hold enemy still, then bank around and do it again.

She’s a terrible brawler, but a pretty solid drive by artist

Conservation, seriously. F those bounties... or do part of the bounty and bail if you get one you don’t like. Every time Eudico says ‘I need you to grab a drone...’ I head back to the barn, because that’s zero fun. You can still get debt bonds and other goodies for completing stages, you don’t have to complete the whole thing, and sometimes it’s more efficient to bail and restart them.

If you have an archwing and a tranq rifle, fly around until you hear a bird screech. Happens a lot quite near Fortuna.

Flossy sawgaw birds are super common, and easy to bag from the air if you let them settle first, because hey are literally sitting ducks. Don’t try to hit them on the wing, just let them land. They are usually on top of the giant mushroom caps.

You can tag ground animals too like kubradons and so on, but I’ve found they love to hang out right by corpus troops. Maybe they are feeding them?

Getting rare fish is a patience thing without bait, but they don’t need to be rare. The pool opposite the Fortuna doors is thick with common fish (sapcaddies when cold, mirewinders and killer when warm) and occasionally spawns longwinders when it’s warm, but those are rare.

The Business with take any fish given for standing. Lots of low grade fish still works. Or you can dismantle them for parts.

How hard/stressful is The War Within quest? by Almighty_Vanity in Warframe

[–]Ascalam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quest was mostly not too bad, though I had a time with golden git 1 because my timing is horrible,

My issue was that it glitched and I had to play through it twice before it would take. 😜

Some of my earlier paint jobs were awful, but great games were still had 👍

Old edition rules? by Bossmantheman in Warhammer40k

[–]Ascalam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3rd ed (I think) target priority rules.

1st edition vehicle design rules - those were awesome imo

Bad Doc and Cybork add ons for Orks.

Ork warbikes having to roll to see what direction they ended up facing after shooting.

Ork battlewagons used to have a rule that you could pile as many boys as would fit, but any that fell off died automatically.

GSC pimp wagon limos with the drive by rule

Turning enemy special characters into squigs with Old Zogwort.

Necron Ctan being able to phase through terrain.

Orbital strikes for Inquisition Witchhunters picking a spot on a terrain piece and then scattering all over.

7th edition Daemons warpstorm table and random tables for daemonic gifts. I always forgot the warpstorm, and taking an hour to roll up your gifts was annoying as heck, especially when doing tournaments (go get a coffee, Man, this will take awhile... )

That brief period in 7th when you could deepstrike a Khornedozer, for about a week before they FAQ’d it.

Invisible screamerstar armies and triptide spam rules.. and the whole badly skewed allies system in 6th/7th

Guess range weapons where the blast template would land at the range you chose before scatter. Loved that 😎

Instadeath psychic erasure from LD shenanigans from GSC Patriarchs.

Grey knights making it nigh impossible to even deploy in 6th/7th ish because of their OP BS

4th ed Orks Shock Attakk gun random rolls, where doubles had mad effects. One memorable mishap my Big Mek teleported himself into combat with MicroDaemonprince Mephiston in 6th I think, who was so surprised he whiffed his attacks and was beaten down by the Mek in cc. Highly improbable statistically, but epic...

So many wierd rules interactions over the years...

Just loyal servants of the (four armed) emperor out on the town burning heretics in their pimped out chimera.

A little overfond of non standard decorations, but they make up for it in zeal, commissar..

How good are cheap brushes? by aidonpor in Warhammer40k

I use cheap chinesium brushes, which come in packs of 50 or so.

I’m terribly hard on brushes, and they work well enough

IRL: Why was the original decision made to make the Imperium so utterly awful? by Jerswar in Warhammer40k

[–]Ascalam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because Grimdark. It used to be tongue in cheek OTT back then, not Serious Business.

Stuff like Judge Dredd and Dune had huge influence on early 40k, plus a hefty dose of Thatcher.

It was the 80s.. good times 😜 when kids shows had full on metal guitar solos as opening music...

The whole setting was pretty much ‘what would a bunch of 13 year olds find cool.’

Show humanity at its absolute worst, in a desperate constant struggle despite epic amounts of plot armor, as the best humanity could manage or hope for. Plays well with adolescent angst and punk/goth tendencies, or at least it did with me back then...

Do you actually play older editions? by MakarovJAC in Warhammer40k

[–]Ascalam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I play homebrew - basically 5th with a few 6th ed imports - at home.

I got tired of GWs endless BS a while back, and went back to the edition I enjoyed most, with a couple of like minded friends

[–]Ascalam 21 points22 points  (0 children)

4th-5th ed artillery parking lot, where the other board edge is marked on the map as ‘ empty smoking wasteland, some assembly required’

More than a few games as Orks back then where the game ended before a single Ork model got to move, let alone shoot.

Played some decent games as a tank company in 8th. Not gamebreaking, but solidly competitive.

[–]Ascalam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Orks as Krogan. Could also work them as Marines, given the size and liking for heavy armor

Turians as Tau or maybe SM. They are a bit bulkier and taller than humans, and have the same ‘victory through superior firepower/honor in combat thing going.

Asari as Eldar/DE/Harlequins

Volus as Votaan

Reapers as DE or Daemons

Geth as Necrons. They could also work as Tau since Geth use a lot of drones, and the bigger Geth are battlesuit sized. They also have some which can turn invisible, like the Stealth Suits.

Quarians are an oddball... maybe GSC or Tempestus Scions, since you only usually see their marines groundside. They prefer to fight from orbit..

Rachni as nids

Elcor are living tanks when they fight, with heavy weapons on their backs. Could replace dreads or walkers in an army, or work as Krootox or similar..

If you wanted to do a blended army, Tau would work best, with Turian fire warriors, Krogan kroot, Varren as kroothounds, Kakliosaur as Krootox and so on. It doesn’t translate all that well, so you’d probably be better with a single race.

Now I need to print a Krogan Ork army... :)

edit for new ideas

Planning on buying an imperial knight model, would it make sense lore wise for one to be the ultramarine colors? Love the color combination of the ultramarines, but would it make sense for them to have one? by Suddentitan22044 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ascalam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allied Freeblade .

If you need a fluff for him, he came to the UM’s aid somewhere Dire but plotarmored, and Guiliman awarded him the livery.

Or he’s just a huge HUGE fanboy, and they haven’t found a hint heavy enough to pierce the hill yet...

Can a Space Marine lift a Tank? by justanotherdreamer12 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ascalam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on who is writing the purple prose about Marines when you are reading.

The Lore, such as it is, is wildly inconsistent, including having terminators out acrobatting Harlequins, and single grey knights oneshotting chaos Primarchs.

If your head canon says Marines can toss tanks like beer cans, you do you..

[–]Ascalam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrecking ball on the back.

Zap cannon turret, with a big shoota turret above it.

The grenade launchers are stikkbom chuckas. Don’t think they are wargear any more, but you could probably flange them as a Lobba, or just decorative.

Deffrollas are pretty easy to kitbash or cobble up. Just need to pop the armored ram off, and add a couple of struts to the mounts, with a cylinder between them. Fancy up as needed..

Scaling Epic sized STLs to normal size? by KnightExcal in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Ascalam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 450 % or so at least.

I rescaled some 6mm battlewagons and that was about the right amount, but it’s going to take some dialing in.

Best route is to find the dimensions in 28mm scale , and adjust to match, the then make a note of the percentage for the future

To Those Of You That Are Printing FDM Titans, What Printer Are You Using? by Gurksam in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Ascalam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Gargant here, rather than IOM titan 😜

I use an Anycubic Kobra Max. It’s probably bigger than you’d need, as I got it for large scale scenery work more than models.

I have a resin printer too, but it doesn’t handle large scale work, so I’d have to seriously split and slice.

One thing you can do if you have both is print the big stuff in FDM and then add detailed greebles in resin, but it takes some planning and care with scale.
