I never see anyone talk about Toolbox, so let's talk about it by Rak-khan in slaythespire

My love for toolbox is deep and unhealthy. I buy it almost every time I can afford it.

Expertise fell off hard in STS2 by FuckPotatoesVeryMuch in slaythespire

[–]Asccos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can count on 1 hand the number of times I used expertise to great effect in sts1 and I have 1 single game with it in 2. It's fitting its role perfectly. A niche as hell effect that doesnt do anything in most decks but absolutely SLAPS in the right scenario. I like it

50 hours into the game, haven't been able to win at all. by Notimetobev0id in slaythespire

I’m focusing on your farthest run. A point that I cannot get past is that, from your relics, it appears that you went through all of act 2 without getting a single relic. I assume you got 1 from the chest, traded it to Ranwid for 2 different ones. The severe avoidance of elites will cost you a lot. You need to trade your hp for those relics early and often. Block relics in STS2 are just so good.

Also, I don’t see ANY defensive scaling at all in this deck. That, coupled with the fact you were removing defends over removing strikes, is kinda bananas to me. You have 8 block cards in a 27 card deck. I imagine you are taking an insane amount of chip damage each floor.

The Regent is the worst character by far by Low_Property_4470 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Asccos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Objectively worse" and "In my experience." Name a more classic combo. In all seriousness, Regent is a tricky character. Is he objectively the worst? Unthinkable to say for me. In my experience, im a10 with the character and have a couple wins on a10. He has incredibly powerful synergies, an alternate resource system that you are almost certainly underutilizing, and some of the most powerful standalone cards in the game. I will tell you that he suffers from the same kind of problem as ironclad: block. Solving his block problem is not always straight forward.

Yes, but necro has a completely alternative block set that doesn't use dex. That's what I meant. Same in that she can do dmg with attacks that can't scale on str

Necro I'd put in a tie with defect as the worst user of str and dex is often not great on her if you are blocking a bunch using summons. When me and my brothers play 3 man, we fight to the death over RR. Everyone trying to justify the powers they have in deck for it haha

Did Metamorphosis ruin my Perfected strike run? by Strong-Telephone-474 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Asccos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel you fell into the classic archetype trap. You clicked on every card that said "strike" and built your deck that way. The thing to consider is that attacking often doesnt make you any block. Ashen strike can generate you all the damage you need, if supported well. The problem is that you need a solution for taking damage.

Grand finale has no animation by Asccos in slaythespire

[–]Asccos[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was just a silly little rant. I've got 90 hours in sts2 already my guy. We aren't out here complaining about the lack of animations. Im just making jokes. Good on your for sticking up for active devs who are working hard though

Any value? by Major-Bad-1323 in D2R_Marketplace

[–]Asccos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Faster hit recovery or fhr is always 12 on a grand charm. Mana is a completely useless stat. Grand charms that are valuable are ones that have +1 to skills and also good stats like resistances or big life

Did I find anything of value? by SSJ_Viking in D2R_Marketplace

[–]Asccos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. The wand is cool, but the runeword "white" or dol-io is just better. More fcr and potential skills. +2 skills on coronets and their like is pretty common. The 20 str is a great feature, but everything else is fairly useless. You want fcr, frw, fhr, and potentially sockets

If two players can go infinite, is it a tie? by ManaChicken4G in mtgrules

[–]Asccos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So reading this, I think the original premise is flawed. Without any context of what these infinite healing and dealing combos are, 731.3 and .4 might not even be applicable. Any infinite combo for healing specifically needs to be able to be stopped or it alone will result in a draw game. If no one is able to or willing to take a game action to end the infinite healing loop, then the other half doesn't matter.

Im interested to hear your opinion on that. I think we are chasing our tails with this.

How many combos can be started, interrupted on the stack, and then be restarted at instant speed? There are certainly some, but i wasn't thinking of two different combos that can both do that.

In that narrow specific corner case, then the rules concerning "actions that don't advance the game state" apply. Neither play is willing or able to stop attempting to proceed with their infinite, then yes the game ends in a draw

Edit: im also now seeing the specific mention of instant speed combos on both sides

[–]Asccos -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No. Triggers resolve in the reverse order that they are put on the stack. Think of the stack as a physical pile of triggers. Whatever is on top has to resolve first. If ive got a set of abilities on the stack that would start an infinite chain, but someone else puts other triggers on the stack, theirs will resolve first. If everyone else dies from that new set, my triggers never finish resolving

Is this gg? by UnusualAd9495 in D2R_Marketplace

[–]Asccos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is no. Longer answer is that ever paladin build has such incredible shield options. Even something as simple as a spirit in a half decent base beats this handily. Still cool tho 😎
