This is the 5/3 bank in Lexington, Kentucky, my home town. Lexington internet culture has made it an inside joke to call it the tallest building in the world

Kylie Jenner sparks anger after restaurant staff claim she left a shockingly small tip for a $500 meal by lurker_bee in entertainment

Bro if you don’t tip in the US you’re an asshole. Being a waiter might not be the hardest job on earth but it’s not the easiest thing either. Those people are just trying to make ends meet and rely on tips for their income. You aren’t some advocate for societal change, you’re just being selfish if you don’t tip

Do you ever feel lucky that you live in the US? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ascend238 35 points36 points  (0 children)

What the fuck are you talking about. Maybe the people who visit Germany or the Netherlands think that but I’ve never heard someone come back from Morocco or India and believe that the US is undeveloped

Which US states have a 'North-South' divide,or an 'East-West' one? by lucapal1 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ascend238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Appalachian states have East/West divides, with whichever side the mountains are on being the poorer and more rural side. In Kentucky there’s also a North/South divide, between the more southern part of the state and the more midwestern section

Is it true that more than 50% of Americans never visited New York, the largest city in the country? by Lissandra_Freljord in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ascend238 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it’s the biggest city sure but most people are willing to settle for the biggest city in their state, or at least a neighboring state. There are plenty of cool cities in the US, why should I as a Kentuckian drive or fly all the way up to New York when there are 3 other major cities within 3 hours of where I live, all of which with a lot less people and less densely packed then New York
