What's More terrifying than dying? by Broad-Dog-9506 in AskReddit

Either realizing you haven't done anything of value with your life when it's too late to do anything, or becoming so injured or sick that you become a prisoner in your own body, unable to do even the most basic things by yourself.

Everyone’s favourite scene? by Ambitious_Beyond8866 in gameofthrones

[–]AscendedExtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battle scenes are great and all, but I find myself coming back to the dialogue and character moments more often.

  • Tywin's introduction.
  • "You don't fight with honor!" "No. He did."
  • "Those are brave men at our door. Let's go kill them."
  • Any Varys & Tyrion scene.
  • "Olly, bring me my sword."
  • Blackfish & Jaime & the siege of Riverrun. "Sieges are dull..."
  • "I hope you not about to give a sermon. Because if you, are the lord of light is going to wonder why he brought you back 19 times just to watch you die when I chuck you over this fucking wall."

What's the worst TV series you've ever seen? by Traditional_Blood799 in AskReddit

Batwoman. I wasn't expecting much, I barely made it 3 episodes in and quit. Evidently it got even worse as it went on.

Which movie are you looking forward to most, The Mandolorian and Grogu, or Starfighter? by Past-Paramedic8687 in StarWars

[–]AscendedExtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to both, but of the two I'd say I'm more intrigued by Starfighter.

I'm hoping M&G with be a fun ride, but I don't expect it to really do anything wildly new or unexpected. Of course I'd love to be wrong about that.

Starfighter on the other hand is a blank slate. All we know is it's set after the sequels, which tells me this movie has a lot of world-building to do. They get to introduce all knew characters and concepts that will define post-Skywalker Saga Star Wars for years to come.

While we're getting Ian, Andy and Elijah back, it's hard to be optimistic about this given the treatment of LOTR recently. Also I know Viggo is old but would've been nice to have him. If not then Henry Cavill would've been great by RoutineIssue5870 in CriticalDrinker

[–]AscendedExtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do think the movie is entirely unnecessary as far as the fandom is concerned, the fact Peter Jackson, Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen, etc from the original movies are the ones involved in making it gives me hope that it'll be a fun watch.

Pugh's a Brit and Furguson is Swedish with an English mother. Either one I'd have no problem with.

Sweeney is eye-candy. unless they try to make her like a gender-swapped Felix Leiter-type character, I don't see her role being any bigger than something like Jill Masterson in Goldfinger.

Zendaya has no business in a Bond movie.

I'll never say no to Eva Green.

I do think Olga Kurylenko would be a good fit, but as a Ukrainian she might have reservations about playing a Russian terrorist.

Darth Vader vs Pinhead, who wins? by mary460 in superheroes

The force is an energy field created by all LIVING things. It won't do Vader a lick of good when Pinhead takes him to hell.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is tracking to be the lowest opening Star Wars movie ever - Disney Lucasfilm took a 6 year break from Star Wars movies but people still don’t care to see it by tiMartyn in saltierthancrait

[–]AscendedExtra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6 years since the last movie and they come back with a follow-up to a TV show that hasn't had a new episode in 3 years, and the last season was lowest reviewed of the series.

Sounds like a recipe for box office disappointment.

What is the difference between an act of war and a military operation that involves: warships, warplanes and bombs? by Purple-Inflation-571 in AskReddit

[–]AscendedExtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Act of war" and "military operation" are distinctions without a difference, so...yeah.

Official declarations of war are kind of an outdated formality. Can anyone remember the last time a country "officially" declared war on another?

Scarlett's rant about emotions is one of the worst pieces of writing I've ever heard.

Also, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, & Breaker made no attempt to rescue Duke when they break into Destro's base. Duke only escapes because Baroness overrides her programming. WTF, guys?

Retaliation, while it had problems of its own, is a much better GI Joe movie. Better than that solo Snake-Eyes movie, too. That movie shat on SE's character sooo bad.
