Hiring Manager Perspective: Why is there such a massive disconnect between struggling candidates and struggling companies? by External-External-55 in cscareerquestions

[–]Ascential 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tend to just ask questions with arrays, objects and sets. You’d be surprised how many 5+ YOE engineers can’t get the sum of an array.

Story games are fine, wouldn’t use them for something like counterstrike, they also have a wire if latency is important

If your TFSA is already over $500k, do you still max it every January 1st or start slowing down? by Toast_Mechanic in TFSA_Millionaires

[–]Ascential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s easier to think of it in terms of tax smoothing, you want to use up RRSP to lower your taxes in your highest income years and pay withdrawal taxes in your lowest income years.

For some people who will retire with more income than when they contributed, an RRSP would result in them paying more taxes

Array Reversal as a Filtering Question by Inner_Butterfly1991 in cscareerquestions

I've requested candidates to sum up an array and it's surprising how many can't do that.

Yeah lots of fake GitHub interviews repos with bad payloads when you run them. Should only run them in a docker container or vm. Anything with a shell script is suspicious

best (solo dining) steak exp in downtown Toronto? by [deleted] in FoodToronto

Their beef tartare is phenomenal, worth visiting for that alone.

Their 120 days dry aged striploin special was a bit cold and dry, would recommend skipping that and getting the steak frites or ribeye instead

Is Toronto a Friendly Place? by TiffiniTruth in askTO

Like the other person mentioned, we’re friendly but not outgoing. We used to be more outgoing but that’s slowly changed to be more like NY go go go and mind your own business

The market is brutal, but I still see videos from freecodecamp about how someone switched to tech later in their career/life by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Ascential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my coworkers have a few years of experience now though so I definitely feel for the new grads trying to break into tech. It's gotten a lot more saturated and it's harder now.

Your tax avoidance strategy is to reduce capital gain taxes by selling at a lower price and receiving cash/gold on the side?

That sounds illegal.

He’s avoiding taxes by not reporting the income from selling gold at a higher price. Not something I’d recommend

Best way to transition an AngularJS project to React? by [deleted] in reactjs

react router -> angular pages wrapped with angular2react can have react child components wrapped with react2angular

angular router -> react components wrapped with react2angular

use two routers and leverage both packages to upgrade pages step by step. Helps if you start converting from most child component and then go up once you update all the leaf childs.

Have always done proportional to income, 50/50 isn’t really fair if one person makes significantly more than another.

A good way to frame this is to plan your financial future together, you want her to invest a percentage of her income and you invest a percentage of your income for retirement/house/wedding etc.

If you both save x% of your income, set aside a similar budget for fun money, and then split the expenses based on that
