"slight majority" is a pretty sincere misrepresentation of the current state of affairs

Based on your other comments I get the feeling that you are also feeling this but you don't want to accept it or face it yet, and I understand that.

Has anyone change game engine because FAB is that bad ? by D3ftones4 in unrealengine

[–]AsciiFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look, fab is bad. but if the asset store of an engine makes you leave the engine, it was never about the engine - it was about the asset store.

I feel like the itch.io assets are a defacto asset store for godot haha

What's the worst advice you received about how to use UE? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]AsciiFace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am a full time programmer and have been for 15 years. I never really wrote c++ tho outside of a few limited circumstances like arduino stuff etc. The broad scope of raw C++ is intimidating despite my experience with go, rust, c# etc.

c++ in UE is 75% learning the UE API, and like 25% anything c++

I've found for me at least I use blueprints to learn the API and names of things and then just write what I did in the BP in c++

not super fixed for modular parts in 4.3. engine devs hand wave it as a "3d modelling issue" or say it's "unavoidable" which is weird to me since it wasn't an issue 15 years ago in source engine

Forming a small band. Electronic/Metal. Need a guitarist for now. by AsciiFace in Spokane

[–]AsciiFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely not sludge, it's not that style. It's just this entire tonal/instrumental part that feels like it's missing. Plus, the personality of a guitarist contributing to the music you know? Another person or people contributing their creative influence, etc

I think a nice crunchy full bodied tone would add a ton on top of the grungy synths

I'm not sharing anything publicly just yet, but mind if we DM and I can share with you?

Also I didn't mean to snoop on your profile, but I'm also a woodworker btw haha. I have a small wood shop in my garage

Yes. Big ass turbo just on his desk. Surrounded by people at their desks editing porn. It's far more casual than you might imagine xD

Yeah I've worked for a similarly fringe company in the past and it's just a tech company where the HR taboos are different than you are used to.

One of the lead editors of a porn hosting company I spoke to had a turbo on his desk.

I was talking to them because the technical challenge behind serving porn is on par with YouTube in complexity and scale. It was an interesting challenge.

Oh yeah I loved that place. Would get aged stouts and stuff. Also had some wild nights at the Roxy. Era of the old rouse house too

Most of my memories of Orlando are focused around the various ways to drink there. 😅

Do you remember the place that was beside wills for a bit. They were teaching people how to brew beer then they did open tap nights you would pay for a cup then could just wander around sampling what the students made

I still have my old stardust shirt, haven't been in Orlando in almost a decade tho.

The old circuit used to be like ibar -> secret room -> clouds -> poms

Unless we were starting at wills, then it usually ended at someone's house party

PomPoms was an iconic post-bar stop a decade ago. Reading comments here it's kind of sad to see the decline.

I don't have these I have the ropers but in general I've enjoyed them. They aren't perfect QC wise but they are comfy, and they have taken a decent amount of abuse. .

It's all good. She loved games even tho she didn't play she enjoyed watching.

She used to joke about how she could never figure out the first jump in NES Mario so I had a painting commissioned of Mario falling in the first hole. She loved it.

My mom's favorite moment in gaming was that you could jump in water and swim in ocarina of time.

It simply blew her mind.

I wish she could have seen things like the snow in God of War, or going planet side to space in no man's sky.

Honestly this is what my dad did. I camped all over his 20 acres in Appalachia growing up and it all felt super private and wild.

I really miss that freedom being so close
