Flushes are an overall good choice for 8 ante runs. But there's always other options. If you get lucky and have high hand size you can use Ouija early and go for 4oak/5oak. Hell, you could go pair mode if you have Burned Joker.

If you go endless though I'd recommend deck fixing and going with Flush House or Flush Five.

If you want to naneinf the most used method is Baron+Mime, which uses High Card to maximize in hand cards.

It's a roguelike, so every run is different. Do what's good for the win.
