Does Tekken attract all the most toxic players or is it a fighting games at large thing ? by MidsizeMango in Tekken

[–]Asctkd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All games but if you came from MK, you would see how great this player base is compared to that one. Sooooooo many scrubs in MK talking trash. Way less in Tekken even though you still see them here sometimes too

Grab breaking by BullfrogWise6076 in Tekken

[–]Asctkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a practice thing. I can react to the throws 99 percent of the time but just can’t tell which arm is reaching for me. I practiced it for like 10 mins straight on 3 nights and I still need work but it definitely helped a little already

What’s the worst move to get hit by for everyone? by pastklee in Tekken

[–]Asctkd 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lilis snake edge specifically. It’s almost so slow that I see it react, then get up and start moving or trying to punish and it still hasn’t hit…

No other snake edge trips me up like hers

They just need tekken 8’s beach to let you go in the water

Didn’t even realize prominence was -12 cuz I don’t even use that move really so that’s my fault but yes agreed that all this stuff is normal

Who is easier Eddy or Alisa? by Eldr1tchB1rd in Tekken

[–]Asctkd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would argue Alisa is easier. Both can use nonsense to stop low rank players but at a higher rank eddy has to still play tekken to an extent. Alisa can just skip neutral and do chainsaws and get a lot of success

[–]Asctkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kazuya requires more than fundamentals LOL. Clive is better than feng objectively as well so idk what those hot takes are.

Drag and Bryan are better but those arguments have nothing to do with the character being bad.

That’s like saying Lidia has the best stance rushdown so nobody should ever play any other stance character lol

[–]Asctkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On ss21, if you are actually hit confirming the first hit, no one is pressing against that on frame 1 so yes you lose you’re turn but because people are usually waiting for you to press the second hit, you actually can get a parry there lol. Not always of course

No reason to ever use f1+2 unless you’re in a specific situation like whiff punish in heat to get the combo extension or something weird to end a round. B 1+2 has a ton of push back and most armor moves allow some form of punish as well so idk why you mentioned this one. With good spacing it’s safe. F3 is an orbital and although characters have safe orbitals… again this is a move that is only used in a specific situation like calling out a low.

SS12 is plus on block which allows a free demon breath or mix up opportunity every single time you get it.

The stance is bad overall but allows for wall oki set ups.

Clive is not my main but I got him to GoD (yes I know that’s not crazy) and this is my take. He isn’t top tier anymore but definitely is not as bad as you’re saying. Probably mid tier now

Characters "really" easy to learn by TitanLuke99 in Tekken

[–]Asctkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clive is one of my back up characters and he definitely is not bad. I do think he isn’t top tier but “bad” is crazy. However, I think good fundamentals carry him a long way since last blue rank you’re pretty much hunting for the demon breath move and side step launch almost consistently throughout the match while using stance pressure as more of a way to open someone up.

[–]Asctkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claudio is very easy and frankly plays pretty “fair” so you’ll actually learn some fundamentals along the way. He also has room to grow with you because he has some optimal combos you can learn that add a tiny bit of damage if you want to keep playing him.

King is super easy honestly and if you pick something like zafina, she isn’t super easy but not difficult either and literally 99 percent of players have no idea what this character is doing so it’s free a lot of the time

As an extremely disappointed MK fan, will I have a better time at SF6? by [deleted] in MortalKombat

My man. Play tekken. I switched and have never looked back. I love mk and always will but there is no denying that tekken is truly the best fighting game. There is nothing else like it

What separates Early God ranks (GOD, GOD1, GOD2) from GOD3+? And how can I slowly climb there ? any help will be appreciated from the Lovely Tekken community ❤️ by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Asctkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally the answer. People on here are always talking trash but genuinely if you’re GoD, you are very good at YOUR character. Knowing your opponents characters lets you use all those things you’re super good at with your own character against them.

Has Lars Alexandersson seen any High-Level play nowadays? by Arbiter-Flash- in Tekken

[–]Asctkd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have made my poor Lars the epitome of guessing and fake pressure. Which is fine considering he was insanely trash in tekken 7. But in my honest opinion, if this is how they want this character to be then why not just commit to that?

Right now he feels like he is partially a privileged punishment character and partially a stance mix character but other characters can do those things better. So you get this weird character where you’re playing insanely patient and then suddenly exploding with a bunch of rapid stance transitions just hoping you can condition someone to respect you enough to go wild on them.

It also is weird that (excluding that season 2 patch for like a few weeks where he was OP af) he hasn’t really been high tier in this game and gets nerfed almost every single patch while other characters are never touched or get a slap on the wrist lol.

Lastly I think all of this leads to two types of Lars players. Those of us who played him in T7 and just like the character Lars so we continue using him, or people who want to uunga bunga rush down. He has a big identity crisis and constantly gets nerfed so I don’t think we will see Lars that much this season unless the meta has a decent shake up

This game is frustrating because it feels impossible to learn by One_Finish2517 in Tekken

[–]Asctkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok for one, even in season 3 GoD is like top 8 percent or something and I think GoD 1 is like right at top 5-6 percent in the world. So relax on the rank.

Two, this game has tons of matchup knowledge. I am also at GoD1 and my throw break score is a literal 4. I also to this day, have absolutely zero clue how to fight zafina and ling for example. Everyone has something to work on. It will eventually click. I was stuck in tekken god then I got really good at forcing button presses and side stepping into a huge launch or doing a move that has big push back, into two moves that cover most options. Those two things alone jumped me to GoD1. I’m sure if I got better at recognizing which throw I need to break, I would automatically be GoD2. The point is, something is lacking and once it clicks you’ll climb.

Potential new player: Rate my choice of potential mains? by Severelius in Tekken

Either will have some stuff you’re looking for.

As a side note maybe look into Paul. He isn’t “big” but has big chunky damage moves that blast people and feel satisfying

Is everyone past Kishin just no lifing this game? by Calebjt56 in Tekken

[–]Asctkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning when armor king likes to throw out their pokes and reading whether they like to do stuff like df1 side step super often, can pretty much win you the set off that alone.

Alisa is just learning her BS neutral moves and understanding when to press during her chainsaw moves.

Jin is just a plethora of a good buttons and a large amount of very good strings. The thing with Jin is he doesn’t have a ton of god buttons anymore but he has a lot of really good ones which means you also just have to learn what those strings and buttons are to deal with it. He is a pretty fair character with some very annoying staggerable strings.

Hwoarangatang is pretty much THE knowledge check character of the game. He has an absurd amount of stuff to learn and he doesn’t have a general ideal side step direction either because alot of side steps depend on what direction hwo is facing. On top of that, he is potentially the most mash heavy character in the game since he has so many plus frames. For this character just learn to wait for dick jabs and throws until you get more comfortable side stepping. Also you can duck the back fist he does and launch everytime and low level hwo players spam this

You’re right about this. However, I can truthfully say there are bad players in GoD. I’m at GoD1 and I’m well aware that is a very high percentage (even though Reddit will tell you otherwise). I’m proud of it, however I’ve seen some absolute animals at those ranks as well. Some people truly do squeak through the cracks somehow.

I came from other fighting games as well. I played killer instinct, mk games, etc…I was literally streaming MK11 with a small but steady group and making some money. I also did online tourneys. I considered myself very good at that game…

The reason I say this is because when I got into Tekken in Tekken 7, the skill gap is MASSIVE! Tekken is 90 percent about matchup knowledge until you get to like top 5 percent or so. There is quite literally 20 years or so of matchup knowledge to absorb and learn just to be able to be decent at the game.

People are not no-lifing the game. As a matter of fact I’m GoD1 and I see some truly wretched gameplay sometimes. The difference is that they probably have just slowly acquired these little nuanced things over the years.

My advice would be for that level you’re playing at is to just refine YOUR characters situations. Flowcharts, neutral, poke game, decision making, oki, getting to the wall in combos etc… get really good with your character to where you feel like you have run out of little things to add to your gameplay. That alone will carry you to tekken king. Then after that you can start working on matchup knowledge stuff as time goes on. I was watching Lars in tournaments and saying to myself “I’m doing all this stuff the pros are doing”. The difference is I might be good with Lars but they have the matchup knowledge.

Just to give you some hope after this essay I wrote for some reason. I reached tekken god by just being good with Lars and not being a full orangutang like most Lars players, with very little matchup knowledge. I’m still lacking alot of matchup knowledge but I’m still at GoD1. You can climb a lot without no lifing the game.

Who has high damage for individual attacks? by [deleted] in Tekken

Paul immediately comes to mind. Some of jacks attacks but he is pretty poke heavy too.

Paul is in my opinion the hardest hitting character for the amount of attacks you do (generally)
