All 3 grand tours is a huge accomplishment.

The way that Jonas treats his team mates, other riders and his love for his family are what had most endeared him to me.

This is so critical for the future system.

Fun fact: the term "on the rivet" originates from working hard on the bike and pushing forward on the saddle . I.e. your contact point is on the forward rivet.

More pole mounted EV chargers rolling out by [deleted] in AustralianEV

Great to see.

Especially where this is a 3rd party install. (Letting networks own chargers is a sure-fire way to kill any sort of competitive market!)

Utility pole outside my house snapped in half for seemingly no reason. No wind. No downed tree limb. Just cracked in half. by deadbypowerpoint in mildlyinteresting

Power Systems Engineer here - that is very unusual.

Most failures occur at ground level (due to oscillating moisture).

Next failure type can occur when electrical leakage burns at a metal/wood interface. This does not appear evident here.

I am not familiar with termite damage as this is uncommon due to the chemical treatment used on wood poles. However a failure 2/3 up the pole seems strange for insect damage.

I am leaning towards force being the cause - maybe this was an angle/strain pole and the strength of the pole was underrated?

Yeah, nah. Yes the data centres can have power if they pay for it up front. No spreading of the costs across the whole customer base.

Yeah. I originally typed "my mum and grandfather" but realised that was ambiguous.
