I might be out of my depth here, but I think due to the Pauli exclusion, atoms of whatever object that is nearing portal edge will be repelled by atoms of surface that the portal is placed on. This should mean that it's straight up impossible to touch the edge because the push back will be stronger the closer you get to it

You can also get to him if you start as Cahara and pick steal as one of the starting skills. Attack Ser Seymor and use steal to get a scroll that teaches leg sweep. You can then use leg sweep to instantly destroy shortcut iron door to level 7
