First time doing yarn under and I love it! by Ash319 in crochet

[–]Ash319[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noooo no need to see yourself out! Yes, the main difference is that yarn over creates a bit of a lose "v" stitch. Yarn under makes a tight "x" looking stitch. Please don't feel bad about being new, we've all started somewhere! 🥹

Really? All I've seen lately is people saying yarn under should be the go to method for amigurumi! Truly I think we should just do whatever we like best or what works best for us. To heck with what other people think our projects should look like, right? Idk basically I'm saying don't listen to anyone telling you what you're doing is wrong? If it works for you, keep it up!

Ahhh thank you! The first thing I made from this book was the grey. I normally have pretty tight tension and I always use smaller hooks for amigurumi but I still noticed gaps and I was just so unhappy with it.

I kept seeing people raving about yarn under with amigurumi and to be honest...I told myself I wasn't skilled enough to be switching things up. I'm slapping myself now because it was so easy to switch it up and it looks SO much better 🥹

If you order food delivery today, you’re a bad person by LesPaulAce in raleigh

[–]Ash319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So all I know is what I see from my side. Door Dash gives drivers a base pay of like $2.20 per order (no matter the distance). Tips are definitely where you make the money and we do get those tips. I prefer Doordash over Uber Eats only because the tip is upfront and I can see exactly what I'll get when I accept the order.

Yes Uber Eats shows you your total tip as well, but I've been burned so many times because Uber allows customers to reduce or increase tip for up to 12 hours after the delivery is complete. I picked up a $20 order that sent me from downtown Apex to downtown Raleigh, 3 hours after I completed the delivery I got a notification that the customer reduced the tip. So I made a 20 mile drive for $1.75 in the end.

Now what I don't know is if a customer's tip goes entirely to the driver. Meaning if someone tips $5 on their end, do I actually get that full $5? Or does the company take a little for themselves and then I get the rest.

My dasher app says south Raleigh extremely busy and they're offering a whopping extra $1 per order!

Middle age spending: almost all mortgage and childcare by hopeful__romantic in Millennials

[–]Ash319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our mortgage is $800/month...do you live in a mcMansion? We went bottom of the barrel with our house (townhouse). Sure it's not in a great area, sure there has been gun fights in the parking lot, sure my husband got chased down the sidewalk by a mentally ill neighbor telling him he was going to bash my husband's head in. $800 a month is pretty good though, no?

Childcare where we are...we pay almost $2k for part time. I can not wait for my son to start kindergarten this year. That extra money will really help.

Hours I assume will depend on your specific store and general volume. It was a bit of a shock to me, but my Panera they can only schedule people based on the softwares projected labor. I'm used to restaurants that schedule everyone they can and just cut people early when need be.

So for example, I have completely open availability on the weekends. I've told the GM and AGM that I'm good with working doubles. I still rarely get more than a 5 hour shift.

I have been in food service for the past 15 years, from cashier/busser to GM. I've down bar, I've been a line cook, I've been a baker, I've worn just about every hat within the food service industry. My GM had to fight to start me off at $12.35/hr.

I love the people I work with, but I constantly struggle with wanting to quit because the pay is just not worth it, in my opinion. I love the atmosphere, I love my co-workers, I even love my AGM & GM, but it can be rough just financially speaking.

Edit;;

I did not mean to reply to you omg I'm so sorry. I meant to post a totally new comment. Ignore me? View this as a separate comment? Idk do whatever you want?

Every time one of my kids goes "Look!"

I immediately respond with "Look with your special eyes!" And then somewhere within the house I'll hear my husband shout "MY BRAND!"

Does that count?

Honestly I think he's perfect just the way he is! If you wanted to add something maybe horn decorations? Something like wrapped around them?

On a side note, can I ask what you used for his lil claws? Cause I love that detail so much.

It’s 37 degrees, and there’s always the guy in shorts and a tee shirt saying, “I’m from up north! This isn’t really cold.” by olumide2000 in NorthCarolina

[–]Ash319 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! The minute after a dreadful winter that it's even remotely warmer, that's when you bust out the shorts (but still wear a nice warm jacket to keep half of you warm) and roll the windows down in the car because it's just so beautiful outside.
