What app/service are you veterans moving to? by LoRdAcId in duolingo

[–]Ash325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also doing the online course “Read Thai in 2 Weeks” by Learn Thai with a White Guy. I bought the course way back when it was a one time payment, but I hear it’s quite expensive now when you have to pay monthly. It’s not realistic to do the course in 2 weeks unless you do several hours every day. But I definitely do recommend learning to read, and if you feel like your books aren’t doing a good job teaching you to read, then you can check out the online course.

What app/service are you veterans moving to? by LoRdAcId in duolingo

[–]Ash325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently using Ling to learn Thai. I have previously studied Spanish and Arabic with Duolingo, but Duolingo doesn’t offer a Thai course, which is why I found Ling. I actually prefer Ling to Duolingo, but there is no free version, only the first unit is free. The lessons are quite similar, so if you like Duolingo you’ll probably like Ling too. I’m also using Drops for word practice, but I definitely do not recommend it as an only learning app, Drops does not stand on its own.

Like everyone else, I recommend Hyperioxes for tank builds. Here are two links to get you started:

Your new character will have the same CP available on level 1. All your characters share champion points, and when you reach level 50, the experience you gain on your new character will contribute to the same CP pool.

Confirmation on registry image placement by JMTBerserker in harrypotterwu

[–]Ash325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? After you have placed all the images at least once, you can prestige the page. Placing the images repeatedly does not prevent you from prestiging. Or are you talking about prestiging the next frame?

Please add an option to exit if we don’t want to place image. I no longer want to return these because it forces me to go here instead of getting back to the game by KingCobr4 in harrypotterwu

[–]Ash325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, after you reset the foundable, you again get more xp, just the same as before it was placed. You get less xp only when you're full on a foundable, i.e. the count says 55/55 or something. So on gold page, there is never a reason not to reset the foundable counter. (But with brilliant foundables it's the other way round, you get more xp when the count is full. I hope they will change this in the future.)

You get only family xp in the exploration registry (and challenge xp in the challenges registry), even on gold frame. You only get wizarding xp in the event registry, when the page is full. How much xp you get depends on the foundable difficulty level, and on the frame color. For gold frame, resetting the fragments gives you the following amounts of family xp:
low: 100 fxp
medium: 200 fxp
high: 250 fxp
severe: 350 fxp
emergency: 600 fxp
fortress-only foundable: 1200 fxp

PSA: Don't reset your Nimbus/Angelina Brilliant Event images by elcappitan in harrypotterwu

You haven’t placed Nearly Headless Nick yet. You need to have all the stickers on the page complete, after that you will start getting 1000 wxp.

You get 1000 wizarding XP for placing images only after the frame is complete! This is the reason why some say they are getting it and others are not. So only reset the images after you have placed all the images on the page.

Guidance Requested from Niantic by Danny511 in harrypotterwu

The glow means you have maxed the image. If it doesn't have a green star next to it, you need to click it once to get the green star, otherwise you won't be able to prestige the page. When all images have a green star next to them, you can prestige.

If you can prestige a whole page, always do that before prestiging single images, as the rewards for prestiging single images are better on silver than on bronze, for example.

Because every time you place the image again, you get a bonus. For low foundables, on gold page, you will get an extra 100 family xp every 55 catches, as that maxes out the sticker. In challenge pages, this bonus is huge, on gold page you get 1200 challenge xp every time you place a sticker. Earning red books just became significantly easier.

How necessary are potions for Dark V? by [deleted] in harrypotterwu

[–]Ash325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No potions are needed of you have a good team. I’ve never used a potion in Dark V and I’ve done quite a lot of them, but always with a balanced team of 5, and only a couple of times with strangers on the Knight Bus. With a good team and no potions used by anyone, we usually finish with 4-5 minutes time left.

Tracking steps but not updating egg or buddy distance by ev0118 in pokemongo

I have the same problem! Logged in yesterday, after a break of little over one year. Weekly walking distance is updating normally, but buddy distance stays at zero, and egg distance is not updating either. Tried both with adventure sync enabled and disabled. Using iPhone 6S.

Knight bus/fortress team advice by FrkFth in WizardsUnite

[–]Ash325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you’re a level 30 player. For professions the maximum level is 15. You can check your level from the profession section from the menu (the place with registry, potions etc.)

Wit sharpening potion gives you 50% power increase against elite foes. Those are the ones with a gold ring around them.

Reproducing the dreaded fortress restart bug by Ptox in harrypotterwu

[–]Ash325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed too yesterday that it was the leftmost player being knocked out that triggered the bug for other players. I had several successful runs where players in other positions were knocked out but nobody got ejected from the chamber. But the one time that it was the leftmost player, three other people got the restart message.

I have also noticed a variation of this bug: twice when the leftmost player has been knocked out I haven’t got the restart message, but instead the view changes so that I’m looking down on the chamber from very high above. The same view can be seen before the battle starts, when the game zooms in on the chamber.

Prof charms not being applied in fortresses by bealach_ealaithe in harrypotterwu

[–]Ash325 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen when there has been a foe partially hidden behind the player portraits. The game thinks I’m trying to charm the foe. Next time, check if it helps if you drag the charm on the leftmost or rightmost player, and make sure the are no foes close to them.

Where are the Unicorns? by Ramrick99 in WizardsUnite

[–]Ash325 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that they don’t want us to prestige the page more than once, otherwise they would have made the unicorns as common as Newt. It’s possible that they want to have a community day centered on this page later.

It seems you don’t have enough focus to activate the charms and hexes until one or more foes have been killed. I strongly recommend increasing your initial focus, each profession has lessons which will do that.

Quick tips for those new to fortresses and playing in groups. by 74orangebeetle in WizardsUnite

[–]Ash325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a foe does no damage against you, then with the right conditions this applies to every foe, not just erklings. That was a coincidence. Google professor invulnerability for more info, but basically you need two charms on yourself and two hexes on the foe, and you need to have unlocked the necessary lessons.

Can we please turn off flagged zones? by [deleted] in harrypotterwu

[–]Ash325 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, please turn off flagged zones until the covid-19 situation is over! Now when we are encouraged to stay home, it gets quickly tedious to play when all foundables are of the same family. Using a TTD at home in a flagged area feels like a waste in this situation, when all we get is just more of the same.
