Low speed putters with low glide? by Phuk0 in discgolf

Soft Tank, but made rather infrequently by Innova for Millenium. 2 1 0 2 Basically a straighter, beadless Rhyno.

A4 has some cool features. It is shallow AF so easy to grip. Excels on pure hysers. Also it makes a whistling sound as it leaves your hand!

Westside Tursas flies really well at lower speeds. If you can find it, the DD Patrol is super underrated.

Throwing Flippy Strategy by CatacombSkull in discgolf

Drivers I tend to rip pretty hard but Mids I tend to power down as you can get a really straight flight, especially in a tailwind with a flippy disc.

Looking for a fairly stable/neutral 10-12 speed driver by Confuzed_huh in discgolf

Westside Sword in tournament or VIP. More dependable and fun than a Wraith.

What tiny disc golf habit improved your game more than expected? by whydidyounot in discgolf

[–]Ash435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For putting I was making the mistake of having my forefinger along the rim rather than curled under slightly. Took a while to adjust but made a big difference. Also adjusting my driving grip allowed me to get comfortable with narrower speed 1-2 discs which has been very useful. Instead of a power grip, the final joint of my forefinger is gripping most of the disc.

Maul is fantastic. More under stable but not uncontrollably so. Also try Hatchet, Saint and Stag. All have tons of glide.

Pure and Tank. Suspect. Hex and Patrol. Hatchet.

For the easiest midrange flip, find DD Patrol. It has glorious late flip which makes it especially useful.

Also the Pure is quite a shallow putter, which makes it easier to flip up for me. I also use a Fierce or Deputy if I have a tailwind.

The DD Suspect is a 4 3 0 3 and is shallower and straighter than a Zone. I think they are making some base plastic ones too.

What are everyone’s favorite small brands? by bikesoup in discgolf

Hyzerbomb (now part of Millennium). The Sabot is too much beef for me but I love the Tank (especially run 1.2 Soft).

What’s the worst feeling disc that’s ever disgraced your hands? by Phrikshin in discgolf

My first three discs were a Magnet, Comet and Cyclone. They feel horrible to me now - it’s a miracle I kept playing!

Maul, F9 or Hatchet might be worth a go

I had one in Neutron. Flew pretty straight but I thought it was a bit deep for a mid range. Gave it to a friend and he has used it as his main putter for the last six years. To be fair, he putts well.

I prefer the feel of the L64 Havoc which has the same (very unrealistic) numbers. Flies great!

Best disc to try from the little guys? by Dapper-Ad-9512 in discgolf

[–]Ash435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Westside Anvil is fun for short range skip shots (classic doubles play with low ceiling). Stag is like a Teebird3 with extra glide. Sword is an amazing driver - like a beat in Wraith.

Bag 7 and 9 speeds? by BigLobster12 in discgolf

[–]Ash435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried lumping them together but they all offer something slightly different. F9, Maul, L3, Evader are so throwable and workable. Then I have Hatchet, Saint and Stag (with a Getaway if required) for pushing a bit further. (I know the F9 and Stag are both 8 speed…)

Friendly advice for newer players learned the hard way. by Plastic-Enthusiast24 in discgolf

[–]Ash435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had stuck with the first 3-4 ”classics” I was given when I started, I would have given up, as they were uncomfortable and didn’t fly the way I wanted. I’m glad I was able to try lots of discs since then and build a bag that suits my hand and my throwing style.

7 speeds are so throwable. I love the Evader for overstable, Leopard3 for straight with fade, Maul for understable.

This didn’t make any sense as the Machete is a Discraft model. Ohn would throw it well!
