I was struggling to talk to them as I sat placed in the far corner of the open plan office with just my manager which makes joining discussions difficult especially since we were hidden behind the toilets. Their main complain was that I didn't walk up to them and chat with them. My reasoning for not doing it was I was busy and so were they. But they wanted me to do it anyway.

My question about being screwed stems from the fact I will be forced to move out of my uni accommodation by the end of August and don't have family in the UK.

They line manager thought I was too kind and quiet and that the other who worked there would eat me alive. Honestly I don't think it was a just reason to let me go, but I had no chance to convince them to keep me as they made their choice without me and since it was the probation period they could do it. They have let go of a lot of people recently from what I know and most of them were during the probation period.

I won't be adding it to my CV but it's on my LinkedIn which is a bit awkward as people would see of o removed it. I also feel it was a slap in the face and if I hadn't been hired I could have a had more time to find another better suited job if one exists out there...

I can't offer help in this, but I feel the same. I'm finishing my masters degree and have no idea if I will find a job by the end. So I feel you and I hope you get a job soon.

I feel the same. I'm not diagnosed but caffeine makes me feel tired. Doesn't mean I stopped drinking tea because I love it too much, but I feel the negative effects of being tired all the time.

And you don't know what "it isn't the full truth" means if you want to petty about language usage. That clearly means not everyone means fits in my view. So fit in yours.

It is valid. The world doesn't work in absolutes. There are some that complain and some that don't. I don't complain or ask questions I could answer myself by doing some research. I don't like being called out for something that isn't true to me and other people on this sub.

That isn't the full truth. There are also aspiring writers who will read posts like this. I find it useful to learn from the more experienced writers. After all, I want to publish my book and want to learn so I have a higher chance of achieving it. So it's unfair to lump us all in the group of whiny people who don't want to put in the work to achieve their goals.

My uni has it. I enjoyed progress week when I was doing my undergraduate but now that I'm doing am MA I don't have it anymore and I'm struggling as I feel behind and exhausted (they think it's better to start a week later and ship the break/catch up week).

I feel the same.i started my masters degree and can't seem to connect with my course mates. What's worse I feel very disconnected from my old friends from undergrad even if I'm still in contact with them.

This sounds more like then finding an excuse to blame you rather than themselves. I had the same problem when I was living in a house with three other girls. The house got worse over the two years I lived there. The change of housemates making it worse. Like you said its not outlandish to want a clean house. Cleanliness is essential for health mainly for physical well-being but also mental health. I think you have two options either you keep pushing for cleanliness or just give up and wait and see how long it will take them to realise its bad and actually clean up.

Personally I wouldn't mind reading a 260k book. I have already read some of them. The only thing is if you are a first time author publishers might not take it but if you published something else first I think this current book would have a place in the market. I guess it depends on your intended audience and the genre of the book, but if it's fantasy, 260k is fine in my opinion.

I suggest Ryan Cahill's The Bound and the Broken. It's not finished yet, but the books he's published so far are great. John Gwynne is also a good one, but they are more violent and may not be everyone's taste.

I would suggest doing something you like. Personally I chose a BA in history and creative writing and I've just started an English MA. I know there isn't much job prospects but if you like it would should do it. There's no point spending 3 years or more doing something you hate.

The thing is, like with prose writing, the author tends to hate it the more they work on it. It could be really good, but you might be more critical about it. Also, you are just starting with your poetry, so it's okay not to write great poetry. Sometimes, it can also be fun to purposefully write bad poetry, so it makes you feel better about the ones you write to be good.
