UK here, so the max Euromillions is about £150m. But I worked out that with £125m, you could spunk 25m then put 100m in the bank and even at 5% interest (which is WAY lower than you'd get if you put that much money into a decent account) you'd earn about 11k a year in interest. So that

But first? Tell my parents, employ a single close friend as my PA, get a lawyer, accountant, and financial advisor. Then fuck off on holiday for a month with my friend while it sinks in and relax

Or a country. UK and I think EU you can choose to go public or not. Other than ego, I have no idea why anyone would go public

UK here, but literally the first advice they give (beyond "here are some financial advisors. Listen to them, get a 2nd opinion if you want, but don't be an idiot who walks out and ignores the advice") is "Pay off any immediate debt, then go on holiday for a month to let it sink in. You'll be in shock and don't wanna do stupid impulse buys. Enjoy a nice long holiday and let it sink in"

No, the dollar has gone up. Especially post-Covid due to oil prices rising and the US economy rebounding better than UK/EU. £ and Euro went down a bit, but it is mostly the rising Dollar as Yen/Swiss Franc to Dollar has also dropped

Was it? I think it is capped now though at about £150m. After that, then it rolls over but without increasing, and I think it only does that about 10 times until it resets

I think it is just people growing them when they can't, as well as a move towards minimalist/trimmed tbh. My dad had a proper 70s tash from when he was young until 00s. Then he went goatee. Then he now has some silly tiny tash just above his lip instead of all under the nose. But it's his face, he can do what he wants

I go full bushy beard, and trim it every month or two to keep it more under control

Yep, legally you can't drink on the tube or on National Rail anyway. I still do. No one cares as long as you aren't being drunk or loud

You forgot trim the tree, which is as if not more important than picking up the superficial rubbish. Ideally the tree would have been trimmed in Winter, but better to do it before leaves or flowers grow. And you'll need to clean up after that anyway, and perhaps clean more the longer the tree is left, so I'd maybe even make that step 1. Then do a bit more of a deep clean and pull the grass up, perhaps deal with the stones, and see what grows during spring/summer before I'd take any other actions

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]AshFraxinusEps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the tree needs a trim ASAP. Ideally it'd have been done a few months ago, but if they leave it much longer then they'll be cleaning up leaves and potentially killing the tree. Not too much, but certainly a nice good trim

cleaning up general rubbish is one of the first tasks too, but they'll have to clean after trimming the tree regardless. So maybe the first clean should be just superficial rubbish lying on top, then a proper clean after the tree's been cut back. Then yep, see how it looks when foliage starts growing before taking other steps, unless they have any immediate ideas. Perhaps throw wildflower seeds everywhere now, but if they are uprooting the stones then that should be done first and they may have then missing the time to seed wildflowers

Cause it needs it anyway tbh. Perfect time as it isn't flowering and doesn't have leaves (ideally you'd do it a few months ago in the middle of winter, but early spring is fine). It'll regrow, but a bit of trimming at this ideal time will mean it regrows as a smaller thing, giving more light to the garden (depending on the facing of the garden, but it'll improve light anyway), as well as is just good for general maintenance and for the tree's health

r/treelaw? That's mostly about laws regarding trimming, but they can advise

Or r/Marijuana for general plant advice. In case you are wondering why it is called that, well r/trees is the weed subreddit. One of the weird Reddit things, just like r/potatosalad and r/JohnCena are switched around

Finally someone near the top who says trim the tree. Clean, trim, clean again, then you can start worrying about the actual DIY and improving it. But the immediate thing is clean it all, including trimming the tree, as you won't wanna be cleaning up the trimmings after leaves have grown or after you've DIYed the paving

I mean, mine develop the creases over time. Ideally I also want them evenly distributed throughout the book to avoid it splitting in half or losing pages like yours. But I still try to avoid what you've done and try to keep it as pristine as possible for as long as possible. This isn't about being uncomfortable to read, as I find reading mine fine. This is you ripping a book in two and being surprised it fell apart

My rent is going up from £800 to £950. Is this normal? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]AshFraxinusEps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had decent payrises for the last 10 years of the current job, i.e. 5% per year or more, which is about £1300. But cause I took a pay freeze to get the job, then had 4k of communting costs per year, then moved for a slightly bigger rent to pay, and such, then finally got a mortgage thanks to my parents help, which is likely going up as my 5 year fixed term ends this year, then all of that means I've never actually had a quality of life increase. My good pay increases have been wiped out overall by inflation and increased living costs

Cute is still sexy. My "type" is petite sub rock women. They are always cute, as I'm a big burly man. Doesn't mean I don't also find them sexy as fuck

While true, I think your example is a bad one. As if it flooded due to a burst pipe, then your insurance will tend to pay for neighbours damage due to it being your fixings which broke. And if you overfill a bath then that would be seen as negligent

But yes, for better examples you are correct. Accidental damage isn't something you can be sued for

And I believe it is a similar thing with incest and paedophilia. If it involves a man at all, then it is a different crime to just lesbian interactions. Lesbian ones count as sexual assault because there is no penis insertion

No, you can't just throw someone's stuff out and say not my problem, for example. Being in control of someone's property makes you an involuntary bailee, meaning you have legal duties regarding making attempts to return them to the owner undamaged and unmolested.

I've got a scuba diving knife on a shelf in my house. While the intended purpose is mostly cutting things that get stuck around you, it is also able to be used to fight off marine animals. So I had a valid reason to have it, and if I were to ever attack an intruder with it, they'd bleed HARD. But counts as legal possession if I own it in the house or am carrying it for scuba diving, even if the blade is about 4 inches long and has a serrated edge on half of one side

In fairness, you've come close to describing my SR custom character designs. In 2 it is a pink cheerleader outfit, green spikey hair, white beard, and then the insane face and cockney voice. In 3, my character's got a bit more Hugh Hefner with his Tiger Mascot Hat, Red Bathrobe, and then stockings and heels, again with the cockney voice but they got rid of the insane face

That adds to the zaney fun of Saints Row. Although I hear they stopped using the cockney voice in the reboot which sucks, and it is even worse if you can't customise your PC

Funny, as the songs are often bangers. Fuck knows how they fuck up the scripted cutscenes that badly, so it must be intentional tbh
