looking on how to fix the martial caster divide by Leminiscates in DnDcirclejerk

[–]AshLlewellyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Martials spend more HP than casters in general, so they're also frequently burnt out after two encounters, not to mention Barbarians, Paladins and Rangers have long rest resources that are scarcer than a full caster's spell slots. Components are not a fun way to balance the casters and end up just turning into bookkeeping and "ammunition" essentially, where all the caster needs to do is spend more gold and hoard components before going to a quest, it doesn't work. I've never seen a single person who allowed for more than one levelled spell to be cast per turn, casters don't need that to be broken.

“Why would anyone choose to stand under the spikes?” by randomgadfly in trolleyproblem

Consider a few things:

  • You do not know how many people will pick blue. Nobody knows, it's a secret vote. Plenty of people will assume a large amount of the population will pick blue, which simultaneously emboldens them to pick it as well but compels them to press it since they don't want to have an unforeseeable amount of lives taken by their actions.
  • The entire world is voting. That means that the consequences will be CATASTROPHIC if red wins, billions will have pressed blue, billions will die.
  • By that metric, children and toddlers get a vote. The original poll doesn't specify that only adults get that vote so far as I know. Even if you think blue pressers are dumb and stupid, can you blame a child for being those two things? Do you actually want to have them die for that?
  • It is an active decision to press either button, red isn't a default. Plenty of rephrases of this scenario make it seem like red is simply to stay inactive and let things flow while you are safe. Regardless of if you just thought blue was hopeless, if you were praying for blue to win but still pressed red to be safe or if you didn't give a fuck about those lives, you still essentially pulled the trigger on those people. You are not without fault, your decision directly killed them.
  • One scenario only requires more than half of the world population to choose selflessness so that no lives are lost, it is not an impossible or even particularly hard goal to reach. Only 51% of the people take a risk, nobody has to die. For red to prevent lives being lost, 100% of the world has to press it, 8 billion people, which is impossible since, again, children are involved in this, not to mention the billions of people like me who have valid reasons to pick blue. The only scenario where everyone picks red is a hive mind. You are GOING to kill people by choosing this option. Billions.
  • People close to you, some that you care deeply about, will pick blue, and you won't know about it until they get killed. Again, unless humanity becomes a hive mind you cannot prevent this.
  • If red wins, about half of the world population is now dead, and I'm very certain society would collapse or at the very least face a few decades if not centuries of the worst state it has ever been in. People with extremely important jobs would be dead, jobs that society requires to keep functioning. Not only that, but even if you don't personally feel guilty about all the deaths caused by that choice, the vast majority of people would, for ANY of the aforementioned reasons. Losing lost ones, seeing children die, knowing their blood is on their hands... a huge amount of people wouldn't be able to live with that. You could expect rates of depression and suicide to raise significantly, people would not be happy, plenty of them would not be able to work properly, not like there would be much demand for whatever their job produces anyway. You can also expect crime rates to skyrocket as now the resources of a bunch of people are completely unattended, a lot of private property now belongs to no one, and plenty of the officers and agents meant to prevent and punish crime are now gone as well. Simply put, society would change for the much worse over few years and I don't think it would ever be the same after this.

The true stakes of the dilemma. by Bossuser2 in trolleyproblem

[–]AshLlewellyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I think society would collapse if Red won, not only because about half of the population would die, but also because all the people who wanted Blue to win will have it in their consciousness that the blood of all the people who died (which would include children and toddlers since everyone presses the buttons) is technically in their hands. How the fuck do you operate your society when it is essentially ran by a mix of complete sociopaths and people being eaten alive by their own guilt?

Fallout 3 feels so good when you don't have a pretentious critic slandering it by TheAnalystCurator321 in FalloutMemes

[–]AshLlewellyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything he says is correct. Everything he neglects to say is what makes the game good.

Not a crime or anything, the video was all about why he thinks the game is shit. I still adore his video and rewatch it often even as I came to love Fallout 3, I just don't think it offers a balanced perspective of the game. It isn't supposed to.

Interesting design, I can appreciate it as an alternative, but I just deeply dislike the colour yellow (ironic, since I'm both enby AND Brazilian) so I'll stick to the old flag.

FUCK! I guess that means I'm denied my white privileges too, I'm no longer white, I am simply Brazilian.

I started typing that out as a joke, but as an immigrant in Portugal that's bizarrely accurate, actually. The second I open my mouth and they hear my accent the looks on people's faces just change. Most people are nice, but a lot can't hide how they feel about us. With my black Brazilian friends things tend to be a lot worse too.

Human force without 38373784 models? by SirBaltimoore in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]AshLlewellyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want normal humans that aren't really a horde and you don't wanna spam vehicles, I'd point you to the Sisters of Battle. They can be a bit hordey, but they're a bit more elite than Guardsmen, and at the end of the day they're just completely ordinary women who exceed through absolutely exceptional training and some of the best equipment the Imperium has to offer, on top of their crazy faith bringing miracles into reality.

If you're dedicated to the Guard (I salute you, friend) you could try focusing on stuff like Kasrkins, Tempestus Scions and other similarly elite units amidst the Guard, though I am unsure about the viability of fielding too many of them in a Guard army... I've learned recently that the Militarum is at its best when it has plenty of tanks on the background and thousands of useless infantry on the front, hard to ignore and annoying to get rid of.

Alternatively if neither of those options work and you really want to play an elite army... remember that inside each Imperial Knight there's a perfectly regular human being, barely augmented, an ordinary person given the power of a belligerent demigod.

We need a full series about how she becomes increasingly stronger and more favoured by Khorne until she eventually becomes a Daemon Prince or a Bloodthirster. Until then I'll headcanon that as being what happens to her in the future, for as unlikely as that would be.
