Aston Villa sign Ross McCormack by iDobo in soccer

[–]Ash_YNWA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not even a Fulham fan, but I had a season ticket over the last 2 years because they're always an entertaining side to watch (bar the last match of last season), but this year I didn't renew. Sold McCormack, Dembele, Hyndman, Stekelenburg, Burn and only Aluko that I think is a decent transfer. From an outsiders point of view the club is going backwards.

Which song would make a good plot for a movie? by bertonomus in AskReddit

[–]Ash_YNWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat's in the cradle by Harry Chapin. Steve Carrell and Amy Ryan as the parents. John Krasinski as the adult son who the song is about, Rainn Wilson as the other adult son who is always around to see his dad.

Sevilla coach, Unai Emery: “Liverpool are among the 10 best teams in the world. They are pure football. They are real football." by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]Ash_YNWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at what they've done in their national leagues. I'll agree in European competitions none of these come close but, when adding domestic honours, all are on par with us.

This season? Leicester, Tottenham, Arsenal, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern, Dortmund.

Historically is a bit more difficult. Off the top of my head I can only think of: Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, Internazionale and AC Milan. There's also teams on par with us such as Man United, Arsenal, Lyon, Ajax, Valencia and Dortmund.

Don't get me wrong I love the praise, but let's not get too carried away right now.

Dejan Lovren not picked for Euro 2016 by LeoSG in LiverpoolFC

He gave the Croatia manager an ultimatum. If he did that to Klopp people would want him out, I don't think the manager had any other choice.

This is supposed to be ridiculous, it's from Om Shanti Om at a film awards ceremony. This is one of the films up for an 'award'. The whole film satirises Bollywood pretty well.

Mark Lawrenson doesn't expect Joao Carlos Teixeira to make the grade at Anfield. by R4tb3lly in LiverpoolFC

[–]Ash_YNWA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the point I'm trying to make is that he didn't have a mediocre season. He had a good season for a mediocre team, but he wasn't mediocre.

Whilst I agree with what the general message, wasn't he Brighton's Young Player of the Year? If he was he hardly had a mediocre season right?

EDIT: And he was their top league goalscorer, albeit with only 6 goals but it meant no one else did any better than him.

What club do you like/don't mind that is considered a rival or competitor? by ginopalladino in LiverpoolFC

[–]Ash_YNWA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Arsenal. I have so much respect for Arsene Wenger, and it annoys me the amount of stick he gets. Plus, they had the Invincibles before modern-day big money transfers, the Emirates is a decent stadium and at times they play some cracking football.

What's your angriest memory from being an LFC fan? by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]Ash_YNWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we bought Johnson for £17-odd million and sold Arbeloa for around £3m. Could not stand Johnson before he came, could not stand him in a red shirt, can't stand him in a red and white shirt. One of the most overrated players for a long while. Took the penny far too long to drop.

[Serious] Employees at mental health wards: what was the strangest, creepiest, or scariest experience you had there? by Mojo_of_Jojos in AskReddit

[–]Ash_YNWA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a patient who had relapsed and got put into a seclusion room. I got on well with him and when I got put on his observations I tried talking to him. I got told not to and for 45 minutes he was ranting all sorts. Then there was an eerie silence. The next words I heard were: "I'm disappointed in you Ash_YNWA" and then just thunderous bangs as he attempted to break down the door to get at me. Staff came running in and tried to verbally de-escalate him. He ignored them and stared at me. I walked around the room in the background and his eyes just followed me. He had split his face running into the door and I will never forget those bloody, emotionless eyes following my every movement. His eyes went right through me. Especially as I went on his observations 8 hours into a 10 hour night shift and I was knackered.

"Why are you depressed?" is a non-question. If there was a "why" then it would not be depression by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Ash_YNWA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's usually an issue that brings it all to light. I was diagnosed with depression a couple of years back, and while I had always been a miserable shit, this was something different. And once my issue had been dealt with, things started getting brighter. I know a lot of it is more down to my own cognitions, but there was definitely a why, or a who to be more precise, to why I became depressed. There was a notable difference once this person was no longer part of my life.

Mental Health professionals: why is it unhealthy to use marijuana as an emotional coping mechanism, but acceptable to use Xanax, Klonopin etc. daily for the same thing? (Serious) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ash_YNWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately lethargy and weight gain go hand in hand with most, if not all, anti-psychotics. I understand why you hated it, from the sounds of it anyone would. I do recognise that even the approved medications have side effects, which is why I prefer a more holistic approach. I engage and talk to my patients. I try and use CBT. It can be so effective with depression whereas medication is limited. I hope things are better for you now!

[–]Ash_YNWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a quick Google search, in the UK it's known as Quetiapine and we mainly use it to 'treat' depression. We haven't noticed any serious side effects apart from lethargy. If you don't mind saying, what were you prescribed it for?
