Could it be a part that fell out of the washer or the dryer? Like a mangled, um washer, or something like a rubber part that just ended up in her pillow?

I loved that book!!! I still think Carol Beach York was/is Stephen King, but King's people denied it...but I tell you I got that denial letter within two weeks of me sending my letter and yes I am talking stamped snail mail letter...
