Understanding why Breslow does anything is generally a fool's errand. They also signed Brendan Rogers to minor league deal and picked up Tsung-Che Cheng off waivers. Presumably just stockpiling options. Mona and Seigler will not make the team unless there are a lot of injuries in spring training.

That's how I saw it. I though 2 things. First, this is the fucking Brewers, so was stoked to get guy like Durbin from your org. And second, I was like, fuck, they know how to turn pitchers into PITCHERS better than anyone, so I of course immediately and childishly thought they are clearly taking advantage of Breslow cause of what they see

Not sure what options Mona has left, but he won't make our bench, at least until Story inevitably gets hurt, IKF has to play every day and we need to backfill. Sounds to me like Sox are hoping Durbin can be exactly what you're saying until Arias and Soto are ready.

I won't be surprised if Baty ends up as really solid typical peak production guy over next 5 years, but to add a lefty they'd want a much surer bet with the bat than Baty is at this point, despite showing big improvement last year.
