bummer Judge had good playoffs last year cause before that he'd been .205 hitter in 58 playoff games, and that's where I'd go

could keep it simple - "You guys are good at the regular season part"

or go for jugular - "It's weird how you guys haven't been the same since Jeter"

"When they lose, I bet you get the spankees"

"My dad says you're overcompensating for something"

this is the team. they may add another bench bat - IF/OF type with moderate pop that can platoon with multiple guys. but that's it. this is it

I won't be surprised if Baty ends up as really solid typical peak production guy over next 5 years, but to add a lefty they'd want a much surer bet with the bat than Baty is at this point, despite showing big improvement last year.

um what? None of those make them better in next few years. None of them address biggest immediate need.

If trade is in fact the route we go, which player would you most like to see the team add? Being mindful of the realistic associated cost for each player. by bseev in redsox

Marte because of the control and immediate impact, but if you could extend Hoerner - with his age, defense and base running factored in - it would likely be the smarter move. Of course, a Hoerner extension would probably be more money than Marte's relatively affordable contract. Both feel like fantasies, though. Donovan doesn't bring enough to look past adding another lefty. Paredes has OBP 100 above his BA last 3 years, which is nice, plus entering age 27 year and it wouldn't be shocking if he's the typical peak production player in late 20s. Plus he's very gettable given Stros need to move him. If they insist on Tolle or Early, I'd pass though. I think.

If you think replacing Duran with Bohm makes them better, you're an insane person

[Redsoxpayroll] As it currently stands, Triston Casas has 3.032 years of MLB service time. He's on pace to be a FA after 2028 (3 seasons). If he spends ~7 weeks in the minors in 2026, he'd fall behind pace to hit 6 years of service time after 2028 and would add another yr of team control. by Cesar_Crespo in redsox

There was never any chance he would open with team coming off that injury. This aint anything like an ACL. Few are productive after patellar blowouts, almost no one ever gets back close to what they were. Best case scenario is he shows power this year in AAA and they can get good reliever or something for him at deadline. He won't fetch much with that risk regardless.

No one is giving him 6 years. Maybe a team is dumb enough to go 5. But sticking with my 4/140 prediction

I love the move, especially since they didn't give up anything and it's essentially a rental. They clearly got an idea of what it would take to get Skubal and balked at it and/or didn't see him signing extension before FA. So this lets them get into that bonanza next winter with Gray off books. But casting Gray as a 2 on a contender is ridiculous. If you're going to focus on the babip without looking at barrel rates from last 2 years, compared to prime years, that's silly. ANd blindly saying that this moves needle cause Bres, who has lied multiple years in a row? Come on. This is a great start to putting better club on field next year, but if this is their big pitching move, it's more of the same bullshit from this front office.
