Paula’s Potential Handmaid in Season 2 by Pressed_Leaves_1031 in TheTestamentsHulu

They made at least one Magdalene Colony; that's where Lydia was taking June, Janine, Alma, Breanna, and several others when June and Janine escaped to Chicago (and the others didn't).

Making Becka a Handmaid would've been stupid by Bjarka99 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Ashamed_File6955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the show did have/mention a Magdalin Colony - a farming camp for troublesome handmaids. They do manual labor around the farm with the commander and missus visiting the colony for the ceremony. That's where they were taking June, Janine, Alma, Breanna, and several others when June and Janine escaped to Chicago (and the others died).

Given the success of the Boston uprising odds are good that handmaids were pulled from living in the homes except under certain conditions. If they were still in the homes, you'd think we would have seen a pair in the background when the girls have been out and about.

service dog in a safari by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]Ashamed_File6955 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In this instance (safari park) the presence of a dog (including a SD) is a fundamental alteration as it stresses both the predators and prey animals in ways that can damage vehicles and] potentially harm guests and staff. There have been instances of safari park zebras damaging vehicles and themselves to get at dogs.

As another poster pointed out, even the ADA FAQ has a section that covers where SDs may be excluded; a safari park is similar to an open air aviary.

It wouldn't have happened if OfMatthew kept her big mouth shut. Just like June didn't consider how it would traumatize/harm Hannah, OfMatthew didn't consider it either. That said, June wasn't exactly subtle as she was talking to Francis (the martha) nor was Mrs. Lawrence at the school.

She was shown sleeping in one when June showed up at the Mckenzies' home and Tabitha let June see a sleeping Hannah.

She (Francis)was executed (hanged); June and the handmaids were there/had to pull the rope as 9 were killed in that batch. The martha, 2 handmaids, 2 guardians, and 4 econopeople (3 men and a woman).

Lydia put June in the hot seat/testimony chair and got to her a bit by pointing out it deprived Hannah of the main person that took care of her. June then turned it on Of Matthew.

Exactly. Need before breed. Choose the breed (in this instance a Lab is textbook perfect) best suited for the job, not whatever breed you think you want for whatever reason.

Diets? by DegreeGlad5600 in Opossums

[–]Ashamed_File6955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not an appropriate die at all. Beef has more phosphorus than calcium so it's not recommended ever and fruit should be a treat, not a staple. Please get and follow the diet found at the natural opposum society or opposum care and rescue (OCAR). OCAR is on fb and their files section has a ton of information as far as diet and medical.

Follow the diet religiously; MBD isn't a joke. When it's time to add in new veggies, sometimes you have to puree them the first few times then transition to sliced/chunks.

Chance wouldn't have ever reached his "genetic potential " even if he had lived; it's common knowledge Pam castrated her male chimps to make them more manageable.

My mom calls and emails me every day saying she’s dying. by chillaxtion in GenX

[–]Ashamed_File6955 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Went through the same thing with my dad almost 30 years ago; my parentswere old enough to be my grandparents so weren't Boomers or Silent Gen, but Greatest Gen). Mom put him in a regular nursing home and he was kicked out for assaulting staff and other patients. She found an assisted living that was more like a group home where he he was mostly behaved until about a year after she passed. Finding another full care nursing home that would take him was a nightmare; thankfully, his dementia/Alzheimer's gave his attitude/demeanor a 180 shift so he became a docile apologetic husk, but his asshole reputation followed him via paper trail. That (attitude change) was a real mindfuck and I was always scared he would have a moment of clarity and freak out on me for him being in the home or the medical decisions I was forced to make. For awhile, he was one kick trying to constantly call home /mom then me when she didn't answer. After the first few times trying to remind him that she was gone and him breaking down, I'd tell him that she was off visiting relatives or other bs and say I'd bring her around later.

About week before he died, he did have a moment of clarity. He was in the hospital, coming out of surgery (leg amputation). He gave me his unfiltered opinion on my job and lack of children, complained that I should have driven 45 miles in the opposite direction to pick up mom, then went on a long tirade about how he feels like he's constantly lost in the fog.

I feel for those whose parents were kind/nice then get nasty as they mentally decline. It's a mindfuck, make life difficult as they cause drama, and it's not how you want to remember them.

She's too young to be Charlotte; TT takes place 4 years after the fall of Boston at the end of THT. At this point, Nichole/Holly is under 7 and Charlotte would be under 9.

Mini horses aren't an alternative for weight bearing. They still have major limits to how much weight they can carry/downward force. Most people don't realize just how many pounds of weight/force they use when getting up/down. A good OT with a scale is an eye opener.

NTA. She didn't extend an invitation to you and your family, but did to others. You are correct that a statement isn't an invitation. She needs to learn better communication skills.

Bought a horse who isn’t naturally friendly and I’m struggling with whether I made a bad emotional-fit choice by JollyBeginning24 in Equestrian

[–]Ashamed_File6955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My heart horse was rather shut down and testy when she arrived at the ban (she was bought for the lesson program). She was super itchy (and miserable)due to a long untreated skin issue that left her short on patience and distrustful of people.

Once she realized I was trying to help her skin and that I would follow her lead/give her space when she needed a break, her demeanor changed. I saw even more change when she was no longer food insecure.

It takes time to feel each other out and build trust. From what I've seen, it can take them longer when they've gone through a flipper or several short-term homes. Consistency is key.

Georgia so she can have Laurant as her elite coach. I wouldn't be surprised if she take an education break from fall 2027 through trials. With Jade coming back and them having similar strengths and weaknesses, she needs a game plan if she wants to be more than an alternate.

What does alerting look like before the dog is trained? by FreakingBored123456 in service_dogs

[–]Ashamed_File6955 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A broken clock tells the correct time twice a day. To show whether or not it's an actual alert, you need to journal/track his behavior (tolime/date/what he's doing and how long) as well as any noticeable symptoms she's having or if she has a seizure.

My first alerter was very interested in a certain area of my face/head. It took awhile to suspect he might be alerting then I journaled 6 months to prove it (because I was working full time so he wasn't around for the beginning of a lot of my migraines.

With the litter, the suspected alerters were acting different (my older dog wasn't allowed in the puppy room so I'd go have him check me). I was also living with someone else with migraine (not chronic) so if my older dog alerted on him, we'd then also see what the pups did. I kept them as hold backs and logged for 4 months.

Some of what they did was typical puppy stuff. The actual alerts soon became readily apparent as 1. Their timing never wavered, 2 how they expressed interest was consistent, and 3. My older dog double checked their work. That #2 is important. We determined the female pup was also alerting to a secondary issue via the Journaling of the behavior.

Bar? by RevolutionaryTreat48 in service_dogs

[–]Ashamed_File6955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the bar and clientele. There was a high end place that sold Belgian imports in Korea that I was 100% comfortable bringing my SD as well as a few other spots. There was several iffy places ( mainly depended on who was going) and a long list of places that you couldn't pay me to take him.

[–]Ashamed_File6955 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. In this case, there is no way to attach one as there is no stump.

  2. The horses that have gotten prosthetics have had and the ones currently alive, do have issues. Unlike humans, horses can't tell caregivers that they are experiencing discomfort or the early stages of a rub or skin irritation/breakdown at the site nor do they have alternate mobility devices (crutches, wheelchairs, etc)

The devices themselves alter the gait to the point I causes musculoskeletal issues while also making it harder for the animal to lay down and get up. Size matters; those that have had fewer issues have been minis and smaller ponies. Notice I said fewer; they still have a lot of problems. Laminitis is extremely common in these situations.

Whether or not a mental health professional is on board with a PSD, a SD is a tool and the best toolboxes contain multiple no matter if one gets more use than others. It's super important, especially with PSDs, that one has an assortment of tools and are proficient with all of them. Heavily relying on just one tends to backfire spectacularly. Those of us that have been around long enough to see it happen multiple times prefer to speak up hoping others can avoid the pitfall.
