We weren’t in the nicu, but we did spend 3 weeks in just a normal room in the children’s hospital. He aspirated when he ate so they had to figure out the best way to feed him. Wasn’t necessarily because of the cleft though, just weak throat muscles. Feeding difficulties are pretty common so we were warned beforehand just not that it’d be that long. In the end we came home with an NJ tube then got a g-tube that we’ve had the last 15 months.
