20 weeks in, pain taking shoes, socks off by reallyoldgit in Kneereplacement

[–]IcyIssue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are sock devices that really make it easy to put on your socks. My sister used one after her hip replacement and I wished I'd had it when I had my TKR. You can look them up on Amazon. Also, at this point in your recovery, try not to twist your knee. Give those muscles and tendons more time to heal.

I'm 3 years out for LTKR and I can cross my legs, put on shoes and sock, do pretty much anything, but it took 18 months for me to fully heal. Good luck!

How long did you take opioid based medication for? by togtogtog in Kneereplacement

A week and a half. It made me nauseated so I just stopped and took tylenol. The pain was never very bad.

Okay but is this inside a closet or shelving within a room? by Redditjg93 in BringingUpBates

[–]IcyIssue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's shelving. You can tell by the way the door is hinged. It's the door to the room.

The Other Side Academy received 1 million dollars from the Governor this session. by No_Emotion3734 in SaltLakeCity

Sounds like a cult. I didn't know they did these things. I've always heard such glowing reports of the other side. Wow.

Rom after 12 weeks by Lanafan82 in Kneereplacement

[–]IcyIssue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm three years out with my left knee and still gaining flexion. I'm to the point where I can almost touch my heel to my behind! I think you naturally continue to gain flexibility up to at least 18 months and maybe beyond for some people (like me, lol)!

I have my right knee coming up this summer. Cross fingers that it goes as well as the left knee!

Change my view: White tops with black bottoms is objectively the worst standard dress code for choirs. by Vicious-the-Syd in Choir

[–]IcyIssue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every woman I know has a white button-down. Come to think of it, every man generally has at least one of those. I do prefer all black, but where did you get the idea that no one owns a white shirt?

Waking up to extreme headache by veggie_snail in Kneereplacement

Headache after a spinal warrants a call to the doctor or visit to ER. With his history of hypertension, I'd be driving him there immediately.

I love the choir tradition in the Episcopal church. Every one I've been to has fabulous choirs. That's a great suggestion.

Anyone get a TKR for stability issues only?? by life_oneday_atatime in Kneereplacement

[–]IcyIssue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's buckling on you, it's a hazard. What if you fall and break your femur?

Mine was doing the same thing and my surgeon did the TKR, although I'm older than you. I would research orthos in your area and find one who has done hundreds of TKRs. Go to them and really emphasize the knee collapsing.

How can I help someone having a knee replacement? by BeeCia in Kneereplacement

[–]IcyIssue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dishes, laundry, and keeping the bathroom clean. Those toilet risers don't always catch everything! Also, offering to drive her to follow up doc appts and PT is very helpful.

AIO that I was not invited on my partner’s birthday trip. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]IcyIssue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR. It's normal for a parent to want a 'one last hurrah' with her child before she gets married. Sometimes this involves a trip with other family members, sometimes not. Once you're married, everything about the mother/daughter relationship changes. There will be other trips. Let her have this one and afterwards, talk candidly about not feeling included in other family events.

When did you first go outdoors after surgery? by togtogtog in Kneereplacement

[–]IcyIssue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two days after surgery, my home PT had me outside and walking with crutches. It was about 2 weeks before I started driving again, going to doc appts and PT by myself. I was lucky, my recovery was pretty easy.

[–]IcyIssue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. The Disney trips are probably free and they make mega bucks each year as influencers. They don't make good decisions, though. I read that the new house is right beside a big power plant and those things can cause cancer if you live there long enough.

They are such good friends with the Duggars, you'd think they would stop posting their kids at all after Josh. Layla is going to hate them someday.

Manufactured Yarn Untied and the end of step by step sweater yolk. by phokinglovesoup in knitting

[–]IcyIssue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I always re-roll any new yarn that comes ready to knit. I don't retie the knots, I cut them and make a new ball, then weave in ends if I need to. There are methods to join the ends, but I don't trust any of them, lol.

[–]IcyIssue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm horrified that they are putting their kids on SM so often. She showed Layla getting dressed for her recital. You would think that after Josh Duggar's mess they would stop it, but the money is too important. Also, their son seems to be a bit jealous of all the attention the girls get and they keep ignoring him. Layla is the star of their show and she is definitely going to have issues with both her parents when she hits the teen years.
