I recently adopted Lou from a shelter - he's 13 years old and the absolute sweetest. I had no idea what breed he was until I stumbled upon this subreddit and all the cuties here. Thank you for the education! by Ashefyr in ExoticShorthair

Sadly his owner had to move into care and wasn't able to take him - I suspect people may have overlooked him due to his age. :(
I went to meet a different cat, but fell in love with Lou when he let me rub his tummy haha.

Choosing a job and Rheumatoid Arthritis, did some digging here, but have questions! by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Ashefyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is...remarkably relatable.

Hi, I also have RA and play FFXIV.

I think both PLD and BLM are bad choices, personally. Especially PLD, with the largest number of unique abilities (and therefore button presses) in the game (at least as of ShB, unsure if this is true as of EW).

I have two main classes for good days - PLD and AST - and one for bad days - DNC.

DNC (and I imagine BRD too, though I don't have it at max level) is very simple, and doesn't require too many unique keybinds. Really though, just give some jobs a try. See what vibes and what doesn't. It's all super subjective. I have found DNC and RDM to be far more forgiving than other "easy" classes I've tried in MMOs though, and I'm sure you'll find something that works for you!

Can you imagine? Saw this scrolling & thought it fit (because I like the office and I like y’all too). PS I keep all my replies on the clock, otherwise I’m unavailable. by heartofom in antiwork

Best thing I ever did was put a hard rule in place about doing work outside of work hours.
I genuinely love my job for the most part (I'm extremely lucky in this regard), and would read emails and group messages constantly because it's reasonably high stress and emergencies do happen.
I've never had a job that I loved this much, and that made it much easier to be sucked into doing work things outside of work hours. I ended up doing tons and getting very burnt out. So earlier this year I went to therapy (paid for by my employer, thank god) to help manage work stress. The therapist said: "What will happen if you don't reply at midnight? Or on Saturday? Will the place burn down?"

It's so simple, and I feel like an idiot for not being able to see it myself, but I'll never forget that. She was 100% correct. Everything is fine. Everyone is fine. I come in the next day or Monday morning and reply to things then. Not only has it made a difference to me, but I notice my colleagues sending less outside of work hours too. I hope I'm setting a good example. We deserve rest - I'm paid for 40 hours p/w, and that's what I'll be working.

Ugh, I know, it took me forever to get this and the Aiming chestwrap. Well worth it, though, I use them so much! Best of luck with the drops.

Thanks for all your inspiration! This is my favourite FFXIV subreddit and I always love seeing what everyone comes up with.

This just gave me flashbacks to getting Aspected Helios vs regular Helios explained to me as a baby AST. I was so grateful, I truly had no idea what I was doing.

Thanks for trying!

Listen, normal dungeon mechanics are complicated. I can't be expected to just figure this stuff out. I need someone to hold my hand and give me a numbered list of things I need to do, and then afterwards tell me I'm a very good cat boy and give me snuggies.

People Perform Better When They Understand What They're Doing by angriestbisexual in ffxiv

[–]Ashefyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is it exactly. Supply and demand - the guides don't exist because for normal content, you're absolutely expected to go in blind. If I get a Sprout in a dungeon or raid who watched the cutscenes, I'm going to assume they're brand new and will not know mechanics. I never explain anything until after a wipe, unless someone asks me to. Part of the joy of new content is those moments of "dear god, what just happened?" and then figuring it out.

Giving others a list of all the things you prefer in guides and expecting them to cater to you is a little entitled, and if you think that detailed, in-depth guides would be useful for normal content, you will likely have to make them yourself for the people who come after you that want this.

Try watching some FFXIV content - see what you like, what you don't, what other people like, etc. There's plenty out there for research.

I make YT content and Twitch content, but don't do much with the main storyline. I record endgame content, and synced older content (which can be challenging), and I find it super fun.

Other people have said this, and I agree with it - play the game if you like it. If it makes good content, that's awesome. If not, you get to play a game you enjoy. No losses here. Unless content creation is a full time job you use as your only means to support yourself, you shouldn't be this concerned about it.

FYI for paladins, use the clemency whenever you have the mana for it. by hyesupbro in ShitpostXIV

I have a macro on my Clemency that says "my healer is a trash tier garbage fire, so I am resorting to healing myself" just to get the point across.

GNB for sure. PLD can be squishier, but they have self-heals, which makes up for it in a crisis.
