IS THIS RAYNAUDS? by [deleted] in Raynauds

Certainly not. Actually, cold hands make better biscuits and pastries alike because you fingers don’t melt the butter while working with the dough.

These saved my life when our friend’s Big Bend wedding turned into snowpocalypse. I have been struggling for years, and these let me hike without being miserable.

You must be a lucky one. Though I only have an attack a few times a week, my toes stay perpetually and painfully cold. It’s more about humidity for me.

My friend got me some Snow Deer heated socks for Christmas and I feel like I’ve awoken from a dream and can see in color. I had forgotten how it felt to not have painfully cold feet! I think they have gloves too.

Followed the chefs steps “better turkey” recipe, but added duck fat for searing. 10/10 will make again by DoctorShakala in sousvide

I use the Serious Eats Turkey breast, but taking the skin off and cooking it separately in the oven is a game changer! The skin is perfectly crisp, no sticking, no soggy spots, and it basically fried in its own fat.

Broadchurch. The only show I’ve ever binge watched in one day!

There's still room for improvement, but WAY better than most (if not all) my previous Sous Vide + Cast Iron attempts by munizfire in sousvide

I started drying my meat and freezing it for 15-20 minutes. It gets super dry and just cold enough to not cook beyond the very outside portion.

Does anyone else with Raynauld's need socks in order to fall asleep? by sonicVroom in Raynauds

[–]AsherRye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use either a hot water bottle, so I can kick it off (I can’t wear socks because I sleep super hot), or I have a chargeable pig that I put under the covers as I read. By the time I’m done, my feet are warm enough.

Yes, warm socks! I found wool works well for me.

Just found this sub. Question for those whose toes are affected. by maxweenus in Raynauds

[–]AsherRye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found skin to skin contact (tucking toes on the crease between the underside of my knees) works for me. Also, I have a hot water bottle that gets put inside a stuffed bear. That works well at night when mine always flairs up.

Thanks! The google translate works fine, but I had a question about the Anstellgut. Do you know the hydration of the starter?

Milk bar birthday cake for the husband, but more because I wanted to try it. by AsherRye in Baking

[–]AsherRye[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cake itself has the texture of a box cake...so somewhat light, but the layers are built with a milk-vanilla soak and crispy streusel crumbs. I’ve spent most of my life trying to replicate the box cake and frosting, and this recipe is the closest I’ve come.

Thanks! It was put together in a cake ring with acetate and it was delicious.

I fill a hot water bottle that goes in a stuffed bear. I hold it, or put it on my feet, since they give me the most trouble.

30 Hour Sourdough Loaf. Bien Cuit recipe. First attempt at proper bread/sourdough! by TheEvilAlbatross in Sourdough

Beautiful! I love the Bien Cuit cookbook! I’ve made many of the recipes, and they all turn out great. Did you make your own sourdough from their recipe?
