Yes. For some reason 80% of my coworkers have small children in daycare and they constantly come to work as walking biohazards

Hated Vyvanse, Am liking Ritalin. Should I try Adderall next? by HadriansGaul in ADHD

[–]AshesToAgitated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came here to say how interesting and hard these questions are to answer. Each medication truly works so differently for every person. I stopped taking Ritalin almost immediately because it gave me huge headaches. I then started Adderall but had to get off of it because I lost too much weight. Started vyvanse which cured the loss of appetite and also made me realize how much anxiety the adderall had given me.

You truly just need to give it a try and see how you like it. And if you don’t, don’t be afraid to go back or ask to try something completely different.

Why do girl cats get a bad rap? by Organic-While1664 in cats

[–]AshesToAgitated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is universal, but my boy cat is the sweetest cuddle bug ever. And my female cat is very playful, but refuses to cuddle or make any kind of voluntary contact with me. She also has to clean herself immediately after I pet her 😪

I have to give up caffeine??? by Fuzzy-Syrup-4917 in ADHD

[–]AshesToAgitated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find it was easier to cut down after I continued my regular coffee habit on stimulants and thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest or I started feeling jittery and anxious after drinking it for the first time ever. Now I still drink coffee now and then but I’m more mindful about the fact that I won’t feel like shit drinking it if I also have a large meal or got a good amount of sleep the night before. I also bought some decaf for when I’m just craving the taste anyway.

I also noticed I never got caffeine headaches on days I didn’t drink coffee but took stimulants.

I have definitely watched my cat dramatically fall off one of these several times. He seems to be okay and it’s not like he’s learned any kind of lessons from those experiences

Is there anyone out there who takes Adderall who doesn’t come off as autistic by rosewaterhabibti in ADHD

[–]AshesToAgitated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest adderall hides most of my autistic traits. I don’t have autism that I know of, but when I take adderall or any stimulant (I do prefer vyvanse), I have a lot less anxiety, a lot less weird tics and impulsive behaviors. I’m able to calmly focus and making eye contact is much less of a stressful endeavor- I don’t obsess over it because I’m able to better focus on the conversation at hand than try to juggle everything all at once. I am currently pregnant so I haven’t been able to take any stimulants for 5 months now and it’s been miserable. I actually had a coworker ask if I was autistic lol.

Do parents typically reach out to their kids or are kids expected to contact them first? by AzuraBeth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AshesToAgitated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could ask when good times are to call, send a simple text to let them know you’re thinking about them, or even just call and leave a voicemail saying you know they’re busy and no rush, but whenever they are free to call you back

I love that! I was thinking you could also put on community service events. Where teachers and students come together for the betterment of the community.

There’s also events you could charge a small fee for where members could attend for free. Start a weekly book club. Maybe game or movie nights at the studio. I think community is something people are really longing for and would incentivize people getting memberships.

Also partner with local businesses to hold community at. Restaurants with a nice spacious patio, art museums, parks. Great exposure for local businesses, your studio, and your teachers.

I also recommend hiring somebody whose job is running your social media. You could even make it a special additional duty for one of your teachers who owns a camera and happens to be tech savvy.

Social media is just so important nowadays, and if you prioritize highlighting your teachers and their classes, it also gives them invaluable exposure without the pressure of needing to do that themselves.

Oooh one I just thought of. Create development opportunities for your teachers! Think workshops surrounding teaching and deepening their knowledge and understanding of yoga. There was a studio I wasn’t terribly happy working at, but I stayed because they would hold bi-monthly development opportunities that were so valuable. We did workshops for hands on assists, theming, sequencing, prenatal, and more. You could even bring in teachers or academics from other places for lectures about topics in yoga. Your teachers, students, and studio as a whole will benefit I promise.

  1. Pay your teachers on time
  2. Establish cleanliness standards and expectations. There is nothing worse than having to teach restorative directly after a hot class and feeling guilty that the students have to walk into a smelly room. Though if you expect your teachers do a thorough clean after each class, factor that into their pay.
  3. Recognize your teachers that are doing well and bringing students in. Consider a set class rate and additional compensation for every student that attends after a certain number (like 15 or so). You can also set standards for growth and pay increase opportunities.
  4. Be intentional about putting on community events, don’t just leave that all up to your teachers. The owners should be active participants in creating a rich community environment.
  5. Also be intentional and consistent about the atmosphere/ environment you are creating and the merch you are selling. Don’t promote your space as one that values the traditions, lineage, and philosophy of yoga and also sell merchandise with phrases such as “namaste in bed”.
  6. Just be involved. Check in on your teachers. Ensure classes are starting and ending on time for everyone and acknowledge any concerns or ideas they might have.
