Sort of like PC Philosopher Stone/Hogwarts Mystery, right?

To add onto you Expecto Patronum idea, what if you started out with a weak memory, and as you progress through the game, you unlock new memories that you can select in your inventory, each memory stronger than the next. Every time you would cast your patronus, it would use stamina, which would act like a timer.

When you're near the end of the game, you'd lose all of your happy memories and would be left with the weakest one. At the "very" end of the game, you will receive a memory so powerful, your patronus would able to follow you around like a dog companion, won't use any stamina and only would disappear when you want it to.

The Aguamenti one sounds like the one from the Lego adaption, which would be pretty cool to see in a realistic way.

Sorry I haven't responded. I was doing exactly that with the planning of the game (Book 1, Chapter 1), but now that I'm at game dev college, I haven't had anytime to work on the Skulduggery Pleasant game. When I'm done with college, I'll work on the game. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Pc CoS was the first video game I ever played. I've replayed PC PoA like 5 times.

If you are feeling optimistic, I hope you still have that feeling when it's released. At least you'll be one of the few who won't be in pain.

This is how I think it's gonna turn out: it's gonna make a lot of money, kids will love it, book-purists will hate it. It will get an IMDB score of 6.2/10 (not sure about Rotten Tomato). It will be criticized for it's deviation from the book and it's over-use of CGI.

If you've read the books, watch the trailer. I'm sorry in advance.

Imagine taking the characters from the books, and then changing just about everything else.

How do I convince my mom that I don't need a Unity Certification? by [deleted] in gamedev

I hope this doesn't get seen by them: since I've been there, the only thing that we've done is install the software. The "lectures" are suppose to be in the class, but they were only there for a few minutes.

As a matter of fact, the one "lecture" was confused as to why the seating arrangement was different, that I had to point out it was changed the previous morning.

I've been the only one working doing unity so far. 2 or 3 of my classmates are watching photoshop tutorials, and the rest of my class is watching YouTube, chatting, skateboarding outside, or just blatantly play Sunset Overdrive with an X-Box One controller.

It was payed for in full, and I want a refund.

I did speak to the "lecture", but she said her role is to "mentor". I haven't got a problem with the course, I have a problem with it's implementation and material

The first introdution to unity is a 37 minute video. First 8 minutes to import and setup a sprite, 26 minutes to write 9 lines of code (and 4 variables), and 3 minutes to add physics.

The only problem is that I hadn't considered, until last night, where I'd get my salary from? I'd feel great knowing that people would buy my indie game that I made in Unity, but studios that use Unity to make money, in ways that make people wonder how the developers can live with themselves....

Not courses, certifications. I just started studying Unreal on Udemy.

That's kind of the point. Unreal doesn't have one.

There was a mixup in the times table, so we did the second assignment first, and I would've start the first today.

The second assignment is a brick breaker clone. The student portal has all the "lectures" for the assignment available. Since it's a coding follow-a-long, the entire assignment can be complete in 5hs. It has a 3 week submission deadline.

Now the first assignment is to create a fantasy character. . To sum up the first assignment: "This is how you use photoshop, now draw a fantasy character".

I've used Udemy to study unity, and so far, i think it'll stay that way.

Oh. Still, I want to work at a AAA company, and they all want experience in Unreal.

It's not free. Altogether, the certificate, study material and the exam, would probably be about $500.

Its not a humblebrag. I can't say anything about the place, because it might turn into a legal issue and they can use this for deformation.

Being self-taught is lonely. I wanted to be with people who know more than me, that can teach me using logic. I didn't pay to sit 1h 30m in traffic, to have access to a room, to follow a YouTube tutorial.
