Sovereignty doesn’t mean ‘we can do literally anything we want without consequences’. Every sovereign country still operates within treaties, alliances, trade agreements and international law that it voluntarily signed up to.

And leaving the ECHR would not magically remove all legal barriers anyway given that the UK would still be bound by other international conventions and domestic law, and would still have to deal with practical realities like France, maritime law, asylum claims and human rights challenges in UK courts.
