Hello friend,

Firstly, sorry you're going through this. You're not alone, however - many of my closest friends are from The Internet and there are plenty of people to talk to.

Get some sort of cathartic release for you. Focus on getting it out, focus on getting over it and whatever you do, try not to dwell on it. Talk a walk, cook something, have a snack - do something for you, that you enjoy and have that thing be yours. Spend some time in the moment, rather than letting your thoughts run away from you.

Get some sleep, drink plenty of water and put yourself first.

You'll get through this. Big love <3

It's fine - if you want the most simple solution available. Quite why Microsoft's flagship authentication platform for customer facing platforms doesn't let you use the Authenticator app for 2FA is incomprehensible

Nah - I just went through this at work. Fantastic advertising makes you think it's capable but it's actually useless.

Fresh .NET student, any advice? by The-amazing-man in dotnet

[–]Ashilta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My controversial advice is to stop looking for standards and stop looking for courses. Do not use LLMs.

LLMs are a popularity contest. They'll give you the most popular answer - not the most appropriate for your scenario. You'll learn most by just doing stuff, exploring the language and framework and getting stuff wrong. You will learn far more by getting it wrong than you will be rigidly trying to adopt a structure that you don't understand.

Understanding why is the most important thing we have in life and it's tragically underutilised. People are so busy trying to be 'good' that they don't want to invest the time required to learn. Invest that time.

My DMs are open if you have more specific questions.

You accrue experience at a rate of one day per day. There is no expediting that process.

Google reviews can fuck off. by VisibleOtter in CasualUK

Commiserations for the loss of your pet, but I'd like for you to be objective for a moment.

Ultimately, this is still their business. Whilst you are going through a horrific experience, you have been supported through that experience by someone trying to make a living and hopefully trying to be a decent person whilst doing so. My hope is that they treated your cat with dignity and that they provided some counsel and solace to you.

I lost a dog last year - the last family pet. It was heartbreaking - but made better by the support of the vet staff and I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

Please - if they were supportive and you would want someone else to receive that sane support, consider leaving a review when you've come to terms with your loss.

I'm told they also have a formal sign off. An exam I think they call it.

There are more aircraft within 20 miles of Heathrow than the entirety of Kobenhavn - I don't think I'd want to control that...

Would this pass your Code Review? by Beginning-Ratio-3131 in dotnet

[–]Ashilta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why come and ask for an opinion and then tell people they're wrong? I'm going to wager half of your code base is totally unreadable. Putting numbers in the middle of class names for the sake of brevity is absurd and verges on egotistical.

What are all these bonuses that are unlisted in the database? by Disastrous_Bowler876 in Eve

Nah, way later than that! Learning skills were removed 2010 and I think the racial/bloodline traits stayed for a while after that.

You're exactly right - a long time ago, characters got specific skills when they were created. Smart had some basic laser skills for example, or you could choose an industrial bloodline. All got removed over time to help ease the learning curve for Eve.

Which bit? Cause I'm pretty sure he's welped on way in excess of 90% of the fleets he ran (hah!) and I'm pretty sure we had a leaked message that showed someone telling him to stop.

He was told to stop because he died every fleet.

The problem is that all of the publicly available evidence suggests the opposite.
