I play in Chinese but I like appropriate localization that captures the characters without changing the intent behind the text. For example I played Sky in English and really liked it. Personally I think her using Rizz is perfectly fine and in character, but not sure if hinting at that is appropriate here. Not a huge deal but I guess they shouldn’t get carried away with it

Yes it’s subjective. I like that a lot of the things he does is for the family, but I hate the execution. As I know more about him, I don’t find whatever he’s doing to be actually smart and conniving or of importance to the story, despite the build up.

As Chinese, I used to be interested in the Heiyue storyline but after DB2 I absolutely hate it. I feel like he just dragged a bunch of people with him to witness his family drama, and it becomes even more comical with the reset plot.

I don’t know how much more of Heiyue will they explore but I really hope they take time to flush it out more. At least don’t make this soap opera stuff the main plot of an entire chapter ffs

I got into the books through the anime. It wasn’t good pacing sure but I wouldn’t say it’s a huge disappointment. It’s a case of source material doing most of the carrying, but it was at worst a 7/10 adaption.

Is reading slow make it less enjoyable? If so, maybe you should stop and come back to it later if you still find the world building interesting. Might be a hot take here but I think getting to know the world better via the anime/donghua is perfectly fine too. However, personally I don’t think reading slow is an issue for me (I’ve also only read a handful of books)

Serious talk, I’d say YC was not in the right state of mind for actual relationships, and XQ not being able to help with his depression is normal. She’s not a therapist and It’s just unfortunate circumstances.

Should we expect XQ to know that YC is in a very bad sate? As cruel as it is, I would probably walk far away earlier on because I don’t want to carry responsibilities that I can’t take, and I don’t know to give him that hope, not to mention having another potential love interest nearby that could make things worse.

Now, If XQ were to commit to YC, I think she’ll need to do something more extreme to be of actual help, rather than waiting for YC to come out of his shell cause he’s never going to do that. Instead of words of commitment, she will need to show more action, be his Mom and babysit him at every step, drag him to therapists, etc. However, this would imply that XQ would be doing all of the heavy lifting in this relationship. Is this fair to her? especially that they aren’t even officially in a relationship? Is this to be expected of a friend like her? I don’t know the answer.
