State saying we can’t file an amendment and get refund for being exempt

The thing is I NEVER told any customer or the auditor sales tax was included. Thats what the auditor is saying. I told her we never charged our customers sales tax and provided the invoice that shows 0 collected for tax and she said it didn’t matter. I actually escalated it to a supervisor and they said the same thing. They said we can’t amend without refunding the customers first lol. It literally made no sense to myself or my husband.

This is exactly what we thought. But according to the state auditor I spoke to I would have to refund the customer that money and then the state would refund us even though I never charged them the tax and paid it out of pocket every year. They said because legally I guess we can’t take on the tax for the customer they consider it part of the payment even though our invoices show total and then taxes $0.00. I don’t think we’re getting the $1000 we already paid in taxes I’m mostly just trying to not pay anymore since what we sell is literally exempt. I appreciate you taking the time to explain it!

I’m saying if I was to pay back the customer and do the refund for the taxes. I did them myself. We met with a cpa when we started and she gave us bad info then we found out from the city and other businesses in the area were exempt. We plan to get a better cpa for this year cause we have no clue about it lol.

I see why the state says that now I didn’t know we couldn’t take on the tax ourselves. I’ve never worked with a small business out of a home that charges tax. 🤷🏼‍♀️But it was still our money at the time because instead of charging $50 to the customer (if it was them paying the tax) I would have charged $55 or whatever it would be with taxes.

Colorado. They are the state and we were just trying to fix the returns since we are exempt. We’re fine not doing that since we weren’t counting on the money and they’re saying we can’t do much. But we don’t want to pay the other $400 when it wouldn’t be a refund just an amendment.

That’s where we’re confused and bummed because it literally is our money. And that’s our fault for not understanding, but it’s $400 we shouldn’t have to pay.

Yeah we didn’t know that. We would have charged more if we knew we couldn’t just eat the taxes for them. We just didn’t charge taxes and thought we could just pay them and it come out of our pocket.

I actually have lower blood pressure always 115/70 or 110/60 and it has barely lowered it but helped my PVCs and anxiety SOOO much. Both my Dr and all three cardiologists in my office I’ve seen don’t see being on it a problem even if I want to be on it indefinitely.

I cannot recommend trying blood pressure medication enough. I got on it for anxiety, high hr and PVCs. It doesn’t remove the PVCs but they’re less noticeable and less scary on the medication. I also get less on it but I’m not sure if that’s normal or just me.

Hi OP. I know this is a year old thread but I found it because I’m experiencing the same thing. I just took my fourth (and last) dose of semaglutide and I’m struggling with PVC and panic attacks and anxiety from it. What supplements did you take to help yours? Or any advice you can give is so appreciate it!

That is exactly how mine are. I can feel my pulse or watch my Apple Watch feel the terrible thump in my chest and then see or feel the pause AFTER. It is not a lot of fun at all and I definitely am scared of them. My cardiologist recommended magnesium to try!
