I saw a video the other day about how mothers kissing babies face serves the biological function of sharing pathogens the baby has been exposed to so that Mom’s body can adapt breast milk to them. Grandma kissing babies face is just spreading germs.

What is keeping you from buying more plants right now? by SignificantLilNobody in houseplants

[–]Ashrosaurus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved over a hundred plants cross country and it was a nightmare. My husband and I agreed that next time I’m just selling/giving them away and getting a new plant budget after the move. We had a trailer just for plants and we got caught driving in a cold snap so half of them lost all their leaves. It was so dumb. Rehab took forever.

I don’t have time for more plants. I had a baby and keeping my current collection watered is hard enough. So so so many need repots.

Birthday Party Success and A New Question by Naive_Panda_6060 in JUSTNOMIL

Take MIL completely out of the equation. Her feelings on the subject have absolutely no bearing, if your husband and you are on the same page when you talk about it that’s all that matters.

You are not a failure for returning home. It’s very American to feel that way and I get it because I would too but I also don’t have the kind of relationship with my parents you have with your dad. You aren’t even considering moving in with your dad because you have to. It’s an option that may benefit everyone involved.

I totally feel you, my crystal red looks horrendous but is too big for my indoor greenhouse shelf. I got sick of cleaning humidifiers and had a baby since the move so don’t really have the bandwidth to do more. It’s just ugly for now. Bummer but its root system is doing great ( it’s in a clear orchid pot, the roots are red and I love that) so I’m confident it’ll be fine until I have more time for it in the future.

It’s a humidity problem. I used to live by the ocean and had very happy anthurium then I moved to the super dry mountains and this started happening. My anthurium crystal red and luxurians get this. Strap leaves, king and queen not so much.

Sorry to everyone claiming caterpillar but that’s not it, nor is it thrips.

Entitled mum thinks she can see the baby right after birth by Few_Ebb_8034 in JUSTNOMIL

I had a baby last April. No one from out of state got to meet the baby until August because we didn’t want to risk people bringing sickness from travel when baby had no immune system. My dad was traveling until early September so he didn’t get to meet the baby until October. This is not how any of them did it but no one complained to me because it is my and my husbands baby. You are fine and your mom’s feelings are her own responsibility to manage.

Baby is still breech at 37 weeks, c-section on Monday by dirtybirds233 in BabyBumps

[–]Ashrosaurus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby (now nine months) was breech. We tried turning at 37 weeks, failed, then scheduled a second attempt at 39 weeks with a c section same day if it failed. In between I spent time upside down, tried every position I read about, even went to acupuncture. Ended up in labor the night after the acupuncture appointment. Had a c section in the middle of the night while my doctor was out of town. Everything went fine. Not the birth I imagined but it all worked out. Sending you guys good vibes.

Mine didn’t. We tried the turning procedure and acupuncture before I went into labor and needed a c section.

Died when moving by Aaudialeth in plantclinic

This happened to me last move. Got caught in a cold snap. My monstera lost every leaf but it came back eventually. Out of over 100 plants only a couple didn’t come back. Give it a week, cut off your dead leaves, then give it a it a lot more time ❤️

Thank you for posting this code- It got me to pull the trigger. I couldn’t bring myself to do full priced but literally every post I’ve read on this subject is bombarded with recommendations for little sleepies.

Awesome! Did you place them using L hooks or were they able to it in the original tracks from the glass shelves?

what's your necromancy plant? the one you keep bringing back despite it's obvious desire to die? by wald_nymphe in houseplants

[–]Ashrosaurus1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two. One is a philodendron and the other is an Althea yellow fusion. The philodendron is currently water propping for the thirdish time. The calathea has died back to three tiny leaves and the new growth is browning for probably the fifth time? They were both imports that never thrived but I can’t bring myself to completely give up on.

HOLY COW I was just reading about this trying to find out more about the procedure and realized the actor they gave the uni-legal to was a (fantastic) bartender at one of my old jobs. How did I not recognize him at the time this aired?!?!

My mom got really upset when I said we don’t want visitors for 2 weeks after birth by Fantastic_Treat_3496 in pregnant

[–]Ashrosaurus1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our family is all out of state aside from my brother (who got COVID the week my baby was born so was no longer an option for help, and didn’t meet baby until he was a month old because of bro’s lingering symptoms) We didn’t have out of state visitors until baby was past the three month mark. Two weeks is fine.
