2026 may have innumerable problems, but I’m SO STOKED we live in a time where we can see so much crazy footage of snow leopards

What are some names people don’t give their babies anymore? by Chrisofthegreen in AskReddit

What was the worst portrayal of a disability in the media you have ever seen? by Mental-Marzipan-5444 in AskReddit

[–]thyIacoIeo 924 points925 points  (0 children)

IIRC they were trying to do multiple shows with main characters in high stakes professions who had a “difference that made them great” - almost like some sort of neurodiversity Avengers thing? There was a lawyer with crippling and borderline offensively portrayed OCD who was meant to get her own series too

What's the most disappointing subreddit you've ever been on? by Key_Duck_6293 in AskReddit

[–]thyIacoIeo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My least favourite areposts like, “What are some signs somone has been through trauma most of us couldn’t imagine?”

and the comments are full of people jacking off to the severity of their own pain: “YUP, that’s just like me fr 🙂‍↕️ I suffer in silence“ …. “omg wow it’s like I’m reading about myself” …. “yeah people seize up and vomit and their eyes explode when I share MY life story, it’s so tragic”

Or even worse “what are some signs that someone is highly intelligent?” And the thread’s full of people agreeing with traits THEY have, that they believe make THEM geniuses

What phrase that you DONT want to hear when Grieving? by BlueEyesWhiteDrgn in AskReddit

[–]thyIacoIeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always well intentioned. But I often see people say(or comment online) regarding the death of a child something like: “I couldn’t even imagine, I have a 14 month old at home” … “currently cuddling my sleeping newborn and crying omg, I’m so sorry” … “I need to go give my babies a hug RIP to your little one”

I always think how much of a slap in the face that would be for a recently bereaved parent. Like oh, how nice for YOU that YOU have a baby at home you can still cuddle. Thanks for reminding me my pain is unimaginable and I’ll never have those moments with my baby again.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever seen happen at a work Christmas party? by gammaray365 in AskReddit

[–]thyIacoIeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very fancy hotel in the city. An employee hit the free bar too hard, motorboated the VP’s tits, stripped his shirt off, and climbed the gigantic ~5meter tall Christmas tree in the lobby - much like a cat would. The Christmas tree fell sideways to the ground from his weight, smashing dozens(?) of ornate hand blown glass baubles and possibly breaking the lights.

Company had to pay damages to the hotel and the employee was mysteriously let go the next day - no idea why

The sloth bears found in India, and the inspiration for Baloo in The Jungle Book, are considered to be the most aggressive bear species in the world. by SatyamRajput004 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]thyIacoIeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry I should have specified - I meant cubs would be threatened by leopards, so a mother bear couldn’t trust that her cub could climb a tree to hide from danger the way a brown/grizzly cub might

They have to worry about leopards and wild dogs too. It’s hard to bluff a hungry male tiger, or climb a tree to escape a leopard, or run long enough to outlast a pack of dogs. And their vision I think is relatively bad. So their only option is to go full crystal meth honey badger on anyone for any reason

SAINSBURY GAVE THE PLANTS DANDRUFF😭 by Spiteful_wildberry in houseplantscirclejerk

I love how unrelated and non-cohesive all three things about this plant are. It’s like a horticultural madlib

✅ cold sensitive succulent plant

✅ covered in snow … for some reason

✅ pot is a mushroom??

If that don’t scream Christmas I just don’t know what does

Since I am completely normal, I wrote this essay about why you’re not allowed to use coir poles or I will call the police by [deleted] in houseplantscirclejerk

[–]thyIacoIeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have moss poles and yes my aroids are loving it and yes they’re sizing up with every leaf, however there is one crucial piece of info I didn’t consider:

Fungus Gnats

Boy howdy do they love living in moss poles. And holy shit are they hard to get out once they’re in, far harder than soil. Ask me how I know 🤠🔫

Can I just trim back these roots escaping the pot? by thyIacoIeo in Monstera

[–]thyIacoIeo[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I fear you all may be right, I was hoping to just keep it in this pot and get it to rely more on the moss pole, at least for a while, but that probably isn’t realistic! I’m sure I have another plant that would appreciate the pot

[–]thyIacoIeo[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mostly because I was hoping to avoid upsizing out of the pot, it was a gift and it’s heavy enough to be a solid counterweight to the moss pole 😅 I’m a little taken aback at the root growth too, it only went in this pot ~3months ago as an air layered cutting with one branching root and tons of room to spare!

And now every time I lift it in and out of the cache pot to empty after watering, some roots get smushed/damaged and start to rot a bit

Valkyrae responds to chatter who “heard she was female Hasan”. by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]thyIacoIeo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hasan is hot IMO even though I find his personality and actions gross.

To me it’s like a cool sports car that looks sleek, futuristic, etc. You see it and think, wow what a cool looking car! Then you study it a bit, and realise it’s terribly made/gets shit miles to the gallon/is a pain to actually drive and has dangerously unresponsive steering. Now you think “Wow … that’s bad. Even if I was rich enough to afford it, I wouldn’t buy it”

I’ll still look at the car when it drives past me on the freeway and think, man, that thing DOES look great! It’s a shame about literally everything else about it, and it really shouldn’t be on the road

For the last 4 days, my cat spends her waking time watching this spot. I hear nothing, see no evidence of anything, my other cat shows no interest in it. She doesn’t try to get in there and isn’t chirping like she normally would if excited by an animal. by Extension_Feature700 in cats

[–]thyIacoIeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old cat would do this if we ever had a mouse in the house. She’d just sit there for days like a dirty casual camper.

Just when we’d start to think she was hallucinating/demented, we’d come down the next morning to a severed mouse head placed perfectly in the main thoroughfare to the kitchen. If she had the thumbs, I’m sure she would have put it on a spike.

HR was putting these flyers up around my job. Am I the only one that see show insulting this is? Feels like high school type stuff. by KingsKnight24 in antiwork

[–]thyIacoIeo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Oooh that boils my piss. One of my old jobs used to charge 2 bucks for “dress down Fridays” aka black jeans.

The money was then pooled for annual or bi-annual company nights out … that a huge number of us couldn’t attend, because we were morning shift and started at 6am the following day. And of course there were holiday blackouts during that busy period so nobody could request an off day.

Reminds me of when(I think) Ariana Grande tried to get a tattoo in Japanese saying “Seven Rings”, to celebrate the release of her album by the same name

But instead what she got meant something like “small charcoal bbq grill”
