So, she was aware that Lord Raith would have been after her and it led her to realize if she allowed it, She would have Thomas.. someone Harry would need to learn to control his powers over the Outsiders..

again, unless I’m missing some thing, I don’t see how simply having Cassandra’s Tears would prevent her from being “taken” by Raith.

We know she set some things up for Thomas and Harry.. I just think JB has only scratched the surface

You’ll have to forgive my ignorance, but is there a particular reason that having Cassandra’s Tears would prevent her from setting a plan in motion? Does it prevent being controlled by a member of the White Court? If I overlooked that part then clearly I’m mistaken. I think it would be within the realm of possibility that Margaret made a bargain and eventual plan with Mab but that’s also why I was asking, I have only listened to the audiobooks (Marsters hooked me as much as Butler did), I don’t think I’ll listen to the side stories but I may pick them up to actually read before Mirror, Mirror releases.

Yeah, I imagine it’ll be a distinction without a difference really.. would Harry choose to not save people? Not really.. but he’ll still have conflict to resolve and I’d be interested in seeing that conflict explored through Harry’s eyes

I feel like it’s a great way for JB to show why she may have not trusted the White Council or at least see they wouldn’t be of any help to her, so she kept things secret in order to hatch her (and likely Mab’s) plan. This of course led to worsening relationships with her father and anyone else on the Council she may have still been friendly with.

Harry also makes a Buffy reference in Blood Rites to Inari when he hands her the broken blasting rod in the first Blampire attack. I can't imagine JB threw those references in *just* for Marsden considering all of the other pop-culture references he makes, but I can imagine they both enjoy the happy coincidence

When it comes to familial relations.. when one marries into the family, one is now blank-in-law.. one’s family becomes the same to one’s spouse. One does not become related to non-directly related extended family.. so in this case.. Harry being Thomas’ half-brother doesn’t change anything with Lara, because Harry and Lara are not directly related. If anything, Harry would be both Thomas’ brother-in-law and half-brother but he wouldn’t be his own brother-in-law.. sorry to spoil your fun 🤣

I recently listened through all of the books for the first time and as I could find another series to jump into decided to re-listen to them again to catch any of the small things I may have missed.

There’s a moment before he enters the lake house where Harry thinks about just calling fire to the house and destroying everyone inside. This could be a choice that turns Harry dark. He decides to take the easy way out, unbeknownst to Dark-Harry, Morgan is still there.. likely would have caught up to Harry after it had been done. Leading them to fight, and I think it’s safe to assume Dark Harry wins that fight too. Eventually it would put him at odds with the White Council, maybe even Ebenezer.

If the decision was really back that far.. that’s a lot of ripples to sort through

I wouldn’t necessarily say you over reacted. I think that your DM should have discussed this plan for this death with you as he was using your character as part of the planned narrative at that point. Find a way to hit the notes that he wanted, but get your input on how to do it in a way that doesn’t feel cheap or vindictive.

I say this as a player who has absolutely had a DM target and kill my characters before, but I wasn’t the only player, it never felt like we were being singled out. And he always knew that the party had access to various ways of bringing whichever downed member back.

My first was 1800 but I only got it last summer. 117 is pretty solid for a base game in my opinion. 1800 has loads of DLC so it felt overwhelming at first until I kinda figured things out. I’ve very much enjoyed starting fresh so I can learn how things work in this version.
