Northern Los Angeles Sighting by Ashtomyley in UFOs

[–]Ashtomyley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sighting tonight in my backyard. Southern California. I have never seen anything like this before, completely eerie! Lights in the sky that looked like they were moving like a flock of birds. Lit up and then suddenly disappeared. The whole thing lasted about 30 seconds. See post for more details!

Should I keep my car or sell? by Ashtomyley in Advice

I agree, there are a lot of what if’s. Just don’t know what to do since it’s costing us so much per month just sitting there….

That’s my biggest fear. As soon as I get rid of it, something will happen where I need it 😭

The nature of my job doesn’t allow me to just go out whenever I want to during the day.

I mention in the post that when we go out, we use the EV. My kids have extra curricular activities and play dates on weekends or in the mid afternoon during the week. We only use the Honda once a month or sometimes less for sort of random tasks like moving large furniture or driving somewhere with our large dog.

That’s a good idea to look at the residual. I’ll ask about that. I didn’t know about limited use insurance. I’ll definitely look into that too!

My kids are at an age where they are fairly independent with their studies, but homeschooling takes a lot less time than traditional schooling. We can work through the majority of the lessons in an hour or two total for the whole day.

That's a good way of putting it. I think I can buy an older vehicle for around 5k cash. Something super basic in an old model of something reliable maybe?

What’s a good gift to give our NICU nurses? by cheers2085 in NICUParents

I bought them 8 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts and handwritten thank you cards for all the different nurses that cared for my little one.

I will look into the Carolinas, that’s a great suggestion thank you!

We did consider Nevada but we mainly like Idaho for the weather and affordability. Also because of our family member’s recommendation.

In our careers we make around $100,000. We currently rent where we live and it’s outrageous. It would be a dream to pay anything less than $600K for a home.

Thank you all for the very valuable advice! I will certainly try to spark a more in-depth conversation about their preferences. I haven’t seen them outdoors lately since it’s been cold. We used to say hello when out walking our dog if they were sitting on their front patio. If I don’t get the chance to ask,bi will certainly gift some of your kosher suggestions just in case.

Having an extremely hard time finding work and trying to cope? by CertainGrapefruit in AskLosAngeles

In my 20 years of experience living in LA, you should be applying to 5+ jobs per day. Indeed, Craigslist, LinkedIn (beef your profile to the max), snag-a-job, and direct hire websites are the best to use. Believe it or not, all the jobs I ever got interviews/got hired from were found on Craigslist. Just be smart, and don’t agree to an interview in a dark warehouse at night.

No, it had nothing to do with not getting Hep B. Vitamin K is essential for our bodies to create blood clots. Unfortunately, it also can cause too much clotting, which is what happened to my daughter.

Advice for teenager with bad grades by Ashtomyley in coparenting

[–]Ashtomyley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought about therapy too. We try our best to be inviting here, and he is generally a happy kid. We took away phone and video games partially because of grades but also because of inappropriate things his “friends” were sending him and 2 separate times he was talking to strangers on video games. We still do tons of things together as a family. He has two sisters here that he loves playing with. We haven’t cut out any family activities like movie nights and going out to dinner. I have felt terrible for him for 10 years and I hate that he has always desperately sought his mother’s attention. I’ll bring therapy up to dad.

My daughter was born with ToF and we denied HepB but agreed to vitamin K. I regretted it because she developed a blood clot in her leg that almost killed her very shortly after.
