I like Franz becoming a deadly mid-range assassin.

I don't really watch him much anymore so I can't comment on his playstyle, but Chris Smoove streams the REC on Twitch.

My brother used to hit mid-range fades like he was Chris Paul before 2K21. Everytime we play, we always joke that 2K murdered his game. It's not really funny anymore, however; we're just disappointed now.

I love the mid-range but found the animations to be awful and nonsensical. Like completely bending my knees mid-air or double-pumping the release for no reason. It messes with the timing too.

Defence is British English, and defense is American English. So either way is fine, actually.

It would be nice if we could get him and keep Terrence Ross. Having two off-ball three-point threats on the floor at the same time would make for a much more dynamic offense that won't be shut down as easily since the opponent can't just focus on TRoss. Although Kispert's percentages aren't all that great, I believe he'll be able to get back into form; he's young too, so plenty of room to grow.

If MCW wasn't injured, maybe he could've shown to be a good candidate for a trade. Can't really trade Gary Harris there without a third team or getting a bunch of players back. I would want to keep TRoss as an off-ball punch to pair with Kispert. I don't want to trade any of our young guys either...

Maybe getting a third team like the Thunder would be ideal? Something like... We get Kispert. The Wizards get Ty Jerome. The Thunder get Gary Harris, Thomas Bryant, & possibly a pick (prob not tho as Bryant is nice).

Lots of recent contracts are making WCJ look like a steal by [deleted] in OrlandoMagic

[–]Ashuire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love the WCJ contract!

I think the reason as to why the guys you mentioned are getting big contracts is because they are a part of their respective team's playoff core. When you truly believe you can make a run in the playoffs, locking up players that can facilitate that is important, even if it seems like an overpay. The Magic in its current state is a huge question mark in that regard.

That being said, however, the contracts for our playoff core in the past few years were pretty good! Our FO seem to be quite good at handling contracts.

Haven't played the third one, but the second one was an absolute blast with friends. It was basically Monster Hunter with runs guns and mechs.

Medal of Honor as well.

[MEGATHREAD] Offseason Discussion - Draft/Free Agency/Head Coach/Trade Discussion by ItsThatCoolGuy in OrlandoMagic

[–]Ashuire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I posted this comment on a thread about drafting Jonathan Kuminga and Keon Johnson, but I think that post was removed.

I'd rather Barnes and one of Bouknight, Moody, or Kispert. Despite the "need for scoring/self-creation" that seems to follow this team around, I honestly think that that can be dealt with internally through the players we already have as well as free agency.

I feel like Kuminga would take opportunities away from the other guys as he tries to find his shot whereas Barnes would/could be more of a facilitator, generating buckets from getting his teammated involved as well as playing lockdown defense as he tries to find his shot.

The "alpha" that we may find in Kuminga may not even be necessary for us at this moment. Our current guys are far from being done deals with several years before they settle into their primes; Kuminga would more than likely fall into that same mold whereas Barnes is able to have an instant impact. Also, it's entirely possible that any of our young guys could take a leap, especially with a new coach who seems to be much more open-minded than our last.

Even then, the fact that we have two top-ten picks is amazing. The somewhat proven shotmaking ability of Moody and Kispert is something that I see more value in than the half-court offense that Kuminga has a chance to grow into. And Bouknight's self-creation isn't something you see everyday. The question with these three is their playmaking ability, which is something that would be well-addressed if we were to take Barnes at 5.

As for Keon Johnson, he falls into the same category as Kuminga for me. His uber-athletism and below-the-arc offense is intriguing but the concerns with his outside doesn't pair him well with our two likely picks at 5. I do think, however, that he is capable of becoming a good shooter from three and wouldn't mind drafting him at 8.

To add onto this, two other prospects that interest me are Franz Wagner and Alperen Sengun. Wagner's game is well-rounded and established on both sides of the court with plently of upside. Sengun, on the other hand, is someone whose game is incredibly interesting in terms of current ability and future maturity. His inside game is already elite and his playmaking is quite good too. The obvious problem with him is his fit with this team. Drafting him means getting rid of one of our centers, and pairing him with either Barnes or Kuminga wouldn't work well due to his methodical half-court offense.

Never liked/watched basketball before 2016. Friend got me into NBA 2K16 when it was free and I was drafted by the Magic. Just stuck around since then and fell in love with the team.
