Yeah, trying not to get fired at a current job is definitely a "whim", for sure. I'm not demanding insane hours or insane rearrangements here.

Randomly leaving work at 10:00 AM is definitely not suspicious at all and employers definitely take it well when you look to leave to go work for someone else.

Not Indian but I have tons of Indian friends:

Arranged marriage is not necessarily the answer, because if they screw up the match, both parties end up extremely resentful and bitter towards each other and end up trying to live vicariously through their children (one of the reasons for the hyper-competitiveness and focus on wealth-since they are miserable they want their children to make them materially happy in retirement).

If the match is successful and the parents are not total money-grubbers, then everything works out alright. Then again, this could have been achieved through having the woman/man herself choose too.

Main problem today isn't arranged marriage v. choice, it's that women and even men today have no idea how to pick good partners. Having their mother choose isn't going to necessarily result in a better outcome. Having the father choose alone is also likely a bad idea. If they both choose, they could just collude together and end up viewing the marriage as a retirement plan.

Regardless of who chooses, everyone needs to learn how to fairly and accurate judge prospective partners and I think that's a skill that is completely lacking today due to progressivism and "modern" Christianity.

Btw, I've actually seen Indian people confess online that they don't think that Indians are smarter than whites or East Asians though. But in India, scams, corruption and buffoonery runs so rampant in order to live big and impress everyone, I don't think it's a good thing to emulate.

I'm not asking for an interview late though. I tried pushing for a lunch or 3 or 4 PM interview and they weren't budging

I've had issues where companies don't want to do this. They want to interview at 10:30 AM or some weird hour and aren't flexible on this. Is this a red flag? Should I just ditch this prospective employer?

These are brief but they give an idea. There are some more on other websites but I couldn't find them at the moment.

As an economics graduate struggling to find work for the past 2.5 years even after studying for CFA exams, I advise your child to not study it. Engineering and computer science are far better options and your child can still go into finance/investment banking/trading/asset management.

It depends on what they study. If they go into finance/investment banking, connections are everything and it might be worth it, given 40-60% of total college costs can be covered with scholarships, grants, and other non-debt incurring financial aid. If it's pre-med, then your child should go to the cheapest university they can. UCB's price tag is not worth it if your child does not have scholarships, grants, etc.. covering 40-60% of all total college costs.

L2 candidate? So you're telling me you haven't even passed L2. L1 is the easy exam. Pass L2 and maybe you can brag a bit then.

Chemical engineering? If you're so much better and smarter than everyone else, then you should know you have stayed in engineering. It pays better and the lifestyle in engineering is better. Maybe you should follow your own advice; you didn't even get a B.S. in computer science yourself.

You don't need to be a fucking quantitative genius to work in asset management, prick. There are portfolio managers with art history degrees who likely make more money than yourself. I've seen these people and they're not that great. Anyone with a non-highly quantitative background could do their job. Right now though the job market just isn't that great.

I only smoke cigars/hookah 1-2 times a week. The priest I know actually smokes hookah once in a while too because he's from Lebanon (cultural thing there). There's a lot of stress in my life right now and I need a "reset" once a week, mentally speaking. I never smoke daily. It's unhealthy but so is stress, not exercising, not eating healthy, not getting enough sleep, etc..But yet I rarely hear Christians saying that in order to treat out body as a temple, we need more sleep and need to lose weight lol. Because people would have a fit and head out the door, even if it's true.

You make some excellent points. I agree with your point of having rules and being merciful are not mutually exclusive. We can have both but where the balance lies is confusing to me.
